On July 10 at 6:30 p.m., fourth-year students from UIC Barcelona School of Architecture will inaugurate the exhibition “A Matrix of Decentralized Ecosystems” at Casa RIA (Santiago de Compostela).

The exhibition is part of the collaboration between Fundación RIA and UIC Barcelona. During the 2024–2025 academic year, UIC Barcelona Architecture students worked alongside Fundación RIA on an academic project focused on the Ría de Arousa. The course was developed with a collaborative approach in response to the challenges of decentralized territories.

The project proposes a renewed reading of the landscape, understood as a layered ecosystem where people, nature and production are interrelated. At the core of the work lies the matrix: a design tool that has enabled the identification of interdependencies, resilience dynamics and local knowledge. With the support of the AMOSAR mobility project, three main areas of study were defined, focusing on the towns of Ribeira, A Pobra do Caramiñal and Boiro.

Based on this shared vision, students developed more than 40 prototype-based proposals aimed at activating territorial regeneration processes. These proposals will be on display at Casa RIA and, later on, in Barcelona as part of the events for Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026.

🌿 Designing for a Net-Zero future! Our Aula Jardí turned into a hub of inspiration with a talk by Juan Gallostra, president of JG Ingenieros, as part of our TFG lecture series.

His talk, “Design & Build: Net-Zero Buildings”, challenged us to go beyond traditional architecture and aim for buildings that generate as much renewable energy as they consume — or even more! 💡🏡✨

From Net-Zero to positive-energy buildings, Gallostra showed us that sustainable design it’s a real, achievable goal for the architects of tomorrow.

Big thanks to everyone who joined us — future-ready architecture starts here! 🚀🏗️

🎙️ How do music and architecture echo each other?

Today, architect and Foros 2025 director Cinta Lluis joined Joan Vives on , the morning show on , to reflect on the deep connection between two disciplines that shape experience through rhythm, silence, structure and space.

She explored how sacred architecture — like music — is not only deeply symbolic but technically precise. Both arts demand composition, attention to harmony, and a capacity to move us beyond the material.

Sacred space, like sacred sound, is never neutral. It resonates through light, voice, and silence — and it’s always in dialogue with the body and the spirit.

This conversation is inspired by Foros 2025 conference series, under the theme “Principle, Form, and Conservation. The Paradigm of Sacred Architecture” that Cinta co-directs with Dr. architect Josep Lluís i Ginovart.

Special thanks to the wonderful team behind the program Ester Pinart and Joan Vives (hosts), Alba Quinquillà (production), and Pau Blasi (technical control).

📍 Senses meet spirit at Foros 2025!

In our second conference at , we explored how sacred Architecture speaks through sound, light, space — and silence.

Guided by Dr. Josep Lluís i Ginovart and Dr. Cinta Lluís Teruel, the session brought together voices from theology, art, and science to reflect on the sensorial and symbolic power of sacred spaces.

- Dr. Jordi-Agustí Piqué reminded us that churches are sonorous bodies built to host mystery, and should be designed from chant and word, not imposed form.

- Artist Javier Viver presented the Sacred Heart at Boadilla del Monte (Madrid). The temple is a monumental work-in-progress: a 37-meter habitable sculpture inspired by the Shroud of Turin where form, technology, AI and spiritual narrative merge.

- Dr. Rosa M. Alsina showed how architecture transforms sound — and how sound can structure sacred experience.

➡️ Sacred space is seen, felt, heard, and lived.

Next up: Gaudí’s Sagrada Família and the legacy of religious heritage on May 21st, as we look ahead to Barcelona, World Capital of Architecture 2026.

Architecture lecturer Josep Miàs will design the restructuring of the entrance hall to the Fira de Barcelona.

The proposal L’Avantsala de la Fira, by Bjarke Ingels Group and MiAS Arquitects, the firm founded by Josep Miàs, has won the competition to renovate the Palau del Vestit, which will house the Fira de Barcelona Innovation Hub. This future innovation centre will extend over three floors and will feature a Z-shaped design, surrounded by green spaces accessible to the public. In addition, the current facade on Plaça Espanya will be transformed into a portico, serving as the entrance to the gardens.

📍 Foros 2025 has officially started!

We kicked off this year’s Architecture lecture series at with a deep dive into sacred architecture — its symbolism, its technical layers, and its spiritual weight.

🕊️ Under the theme “Sacred Architecture: the visible of the invisible”, architects Dr. Héctor Devesa, Leopoldo Gil, and Dr. Nacho Vicens brought three unique perspectives on how liturgical spaces carry form, meaning, memory — and transcendence.

From theology to restoration, from eternity to ephemerality (yes, even Papal stages!), this first session reminded us:

➡️ Architecture is more than space — it’s experience, sign, ritual, and time.

➡️ Design beyond aesthetics – Sacred spaces teach us that architecture is about meaning, presence, and silence.

➡️ Restore with respect – Let time speak through the building, and elevate it.

➡️ Build for the unseen – Architecture is what we feel, remember, and believe.

Conducted by Dr Architects and Professors Josep Lluis Guinovart, Cinta Lluis Teruel and Ricardo Gómez Val.

💡 Next up in the series: conversations on sacred heritage, the Sagrada Família, and what it means to build with soul in a contemporary world. Stay tuned!
