It’s hard to pick a favorite part of Prague, and this live stream will make it harder still as John Paul explores where the Old Town and New Town converge. Starting at the Republic Square (Námêstí Republiky) and the Municipal House, we’ll admire the Powder Gate and Hybernia Theatre. We’ll make our way together to the cubist masterpiece “the House of the Black Madonna”, before taking in the Estates Theatre and the Charles University 14th century Karolinum building. After Havelska Market and Havel’s Church, we’ll wrap up our hour together by heading through Wenceslaus Square to the Bethlehem Church. With John Paul, there’s always going to be a few surprise extras, as you can’t stop that man from sharing the passion he feels for his adopted city!

Return to Japan, as Shohei explores an enjoyable morning in the natural beauty of Kyoto. We’ll stroll by the Kamo River and into the sacred Tadasu Woods, which stand as guardians of what lies beyond: our goal, the Shimogamo Shrine. The grand shrine, with its numerous gods, is a World Heritage site with thousands of years of history, and was built to honor one of the oldest noble families of Kyoto. This live stream will last only around 45 minutes, so don’t be late!

Join us as Ellie takes us to one of the most diverse neighborhoods in London. From the East London Mosque to the Whitechapel Market, we’ll immerse ourselves in the reality of the fascinating sights and sounds, both familiar and new. A traditionally working class area, it’s welcomed wave after wave of immigration from beyond Britain’s shores. These different peoples, stories, cultures, religions, and foods coexisting peacefully makes this one of the most interesting and exciting places we could explore together on our live stream.

Join us as Shohei leads us to the most important of all of the thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari; also numbering in the thousands are the world famous vermillion torii gates, iconically Japanese. We'll also visit the local village to peak in some shops and market stalls, grabbing a taste treat to power us for our ascent to the start of the famous hiking trails up the mountainside. Maybe we'll even see some real foxes amongst the many statues of Inari's furry messengers.

Support a guide on a live stream virtual tour this weekend. The Free Tour (tips-only) model is alive online until we can all meet in person again. It's in real time so you can interact with your guide!

It was a glorious week and weekend of some of the best live streaming experiences anywhere. Thank you to Shohei Toyoda, Tokyo Localized Walking Tours in Tokyo, The Five Cousins and Gabo Candal, John Paul Franke, and Walks of Charleston and Lowcountry Walking Tours for Jim Gresham. You provided excellent tours. You shared your cities and yourselves with our community of friends, family, and fellow travelers.

Hundreds of you shared back, through contributions to the guides, by sharing our posts and live streams, and be talking with us through the chat, to help us never forget that we're here together. Until we can reunite in person, we'll keep traveling virtually. Join us in New York this Tuesday for New York City's Central Park in Bloom: Manhattan’s Gift to the People w/ Walter Hoffman?

Links to the last tours are in the comments below. Feel free to share this post or any of the videos with anyone you think might enjoy it.

Join John Paul and explore the Czech capital through our first live stream from Prague. Starting in the Old Town Square, almost a tour in itself, we’ll then follow the path to the Charles Bridge. From the gothic twin steeples of the Tyn Church, to the Astronomical Clock, from the Jan Huss Memorial statue, to the iconic Karlov Most and the best views of the Castle and the river, this picturesque city cradles a vivid history, seen through its buildings and John Paul’s storytelling. Come together with old and new friends on this virtual trip through the heart of Prague.

The Gothic Quarter has captured the imaginations of artists, both locals and visitors, for generations. Join us on this live stream to Catalonia’s capital city as Patrick leads us through the mists of time. From the Roman Walls that once defended this strategic port from land invaders, to the Plaza del Rey and the Cathedral of the Catalan sovereigns, to the current government square of Plaza de Sant Jaume, Patrick will show us how this special neighborhood has played a role in history, it’s own and that of the city of Barcelona. This virtual trip should last about 45-60min, depending on what happens…when it’s a live stream, anything is possible!

Could this be the future of walking tours? Check out this hybrid virtual tour with real customers; it streamed live 3/12/21 with Todd Duren of Secret History Tours of Mobile (https://www.secrethistorytours.com/), and tell us one thing: how would you feel about being an in-person guest on a tour that was live streamed around the world? We're considering it as a way to reopen tours faster, so really want to know what you think.

This weekend we have 6 live streaming tours this weekend, and are experimenting with a couple of new types of experiences. (Pssst...pass it along?)

07/03/2021

This week Shohei is mixing things up; after letting us experience Kyoto as it wakes up, now we’ll join together to witness the city at sunset, as the people of Kyoto come to the end of the day. We’ll be back in the Higashiyama District visiting the Yasaka Shrine, dedicated to the East Guardian God, and having stood above Kyoto for over 1350 years. As Shohei shares his discoveries both new and old, climbing the hills as we cheer him on, we’ll visit the Chionin Temple, built at the apex of Buddhism in the city in the 1200s. Lastly, we’ll also visit the Heian Shrine (Shinto), built especially in honor of Emperor Kanmu (Kyoto’s founder).
