Today virtually every Spanish home will have a Roscón de Reyes (or ‘Kings cake’). Not unlike a giant doughnut, it has a sweet, creamy filling inside and glacé fruit decorating the top to give it the appearance of a jewelled crown. Usually a small figure is hidden inside - whoever finds it gets to wear the paper crown.🫅🏼

Barcelona is top of our list of recommendations when our guests from around the world are looking for a 'two-centre' holiday - a city break, combined with a relaxing stay at Casa Windlenook. An absolute must-see in Barcelona is Gaudi's extraordinary Sagrada Familia. We recently visited ourselves for the first time and found the building's breathtaking beauty, the intricacy and the symbolism of the architecture utterly awe-inspiring. It's really an astonishing feat of imagination. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it will be the tallest church building in the world when eventually it is completed in 2026 - 144 years after construction began, and on the 100th anniversary of Gaudi's death. We're planning to be there in 2026 to see it finished......in the meantime, here is a 60 second glimpse of our recent visit.
