Went up to the Sueve to escape the noise of the annual rice pudding festival in the village for a night under the stars. The sunset and just afterwards were amazing but then the mist rolled in and that was the last we saw of the sky!

It always amazes me how well established woodland has little or no undergrowth. .brayford.96 do you know? Is it because of the canopy, the leaves that cover the ground, the mycorrhizal fungi, something else completely or a combination of factors?

Forest bathing in Redes and Ponga. The beech leaves are just on the point of turning to their full autumn gold. This circular route from Pendones along the Rebollu L'Osu is a great walk at any time of the year but in autumn it's especially beautiful.

An amazing day scrambling along the Argaos arete with Den and Paula. The Argaos are a great grade 3 scramble in the Western Massif of the Picos de Europa. Lots of airy exposed bits but really only one spot that you need to protect with a rope.

A great bivy and mountain day in the Picos de Europa yesterday. Also managed to tick off another of the 50 peaks above 2,400m, El Torco. Only Peña Santa (the big one in the background) left to do in the Western Massif!

There are enough mountains in the Cordillera Cantábrica, in Northern Spain to last a lifetime. This one was a fairly obscure peak called Pico Cortés in the Eastern Massif of the Picos de Europa.

This screenshot from the Meteoblue website of the Picos de Europa forecast for the week is just nuts! We've been having unseasonably warm temperatures and very little rain/snow this year and then all of a sudden we get this! So much fresh snowfall and such strong winds is going to be a recipe for high avalanche risk.

We took Daisy the Duster up the dirt road from Alto la Llama to the top of the Sueve today.

Loads of red kites, vultures and deer up there. Deer blend in so well. How many can you see in the last photo?

The forests of the Ponga Natural Park in Asturias, Northern Spain are currently my favourite places explore. I ran from Pendones to the top of Tiatordos and didn't see a soul until I reached the peak!
