Summer is officially (almost) here!
With the arrival of summer comes our favourite local produce namely cherries! 🍒
Last week we visited the área of Val de la gallinera, a beautiful area of Alicante that is composed of 8 small towns with a total of 500 habitants.
Make sure to try our local cerezas montaña de Alicante. They are the BEST we've ever tried. And if you are lucky enough to be here at the beginning of June come to the cherry festival

February is usually the time when the almond trees reach their máximum splendor although the flowering this year coincided with the cold wave we had resulting in fewer flowers.
But still look at the landscape in Guadalest one of the best areas to see the bloom!

🇬🇧Arroz Alicantino vs Paella
Gastronomy is a matter of great importance in this area and those of you who have accompanied us on our Food and wine tours will know how much we like to talk about this 😅

In Alicante we say "arroz" or simply rice and in Valencia paella.

What is the main difference between them?!
In paella vegetables predominante along with meat or fish and they use saffron which is why it has a yellow color.
Alicante rice on the other hand has a slightly more reddish color due to the salmorreta (a mix of ñora, garlic and olive oil)

La gastronomía es una cuestión de mucha importancia en esta zona y los que nos han acompañado en nuestros Food & wine tours sabrán como nos gusta hablar de eso 😅

En Alicante le dicimos arroz. La paella de Valencia.

Que es la diferencia principal?!
En la paella predominan las verduras junto con la carne o pescado y utilizan azafrán por eso tiene un color amarillo.
El arroz Alicantino en cambio tiene un color ligeramente más rojizo debido a la salmorreta (mezcla de ñora, ajo y aceite oliva.
