Flamenco in Andalucía 💃🏻🍷🌞🇪🇸

Andalucía is the home of flamenco, and to be honest, I’ve been blown away by some of the shows I’ve seen out here. Such an interesting form of music/dance, especially when they lose themselves in the ‘duende’.

When I take the groups to Jerez, we visit a beautiful little flamenco tavern, ‘El Pasaje’. It really is something special and very authentic, with some of the best flamenco artists around.

Vejer de la Frontera ❤️

Beautiful mountain top white town (Pueblo blanco) we visit on our holidays - and one of my favourite places.

Los Caños de Meca and La Breña natural park 🌳🌳🌳🌊🌊🌊
One of my favorite places and a stunning 14km walk ☀️😁❤️

Los Caños de Meca:

Los Caños de Meca is a small seaside village to the east of Cape Trafalgar on the Costa de la Luz of Spain. It is part of the Province of Cádiz and the autonomous region of Andalusia.

Los Caños de Meca history is related to the Straits of Gibraltar, the Roman Fretus Herculeum and the Arab Boughaz el Tarek. Also the Battle of Trafalgar was fought near the coast of Caños de Meca, off the Cape of Trafalgar, over 200 years ago, 21 October 1805.

La Breña Natural Park:

La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park is a natural park on the coast of the province of Cádiz, Spain. The park includes marine and terrestrial ecosystems. An area of the natural park has been planted with pines to control the spread of sand-dunes.

Santiago Almond Cake Recipe 🇪🇸🍰😃

(Gluten and dairy free)
This almond cake went down really well with the group. It’s super easy to make and only has a few ingredients 😃
*We used the half the sugar and it was still sweet. Double the ingredients (x2) for a family size cake 👍👍👍

Fun fact:
Andalucía, the birthplace of tapas 🥘

According to legend, back in the 19th century, Alfonso XIII while travelling in Andalucia stopped to rest in a popular tavern in Cadiz. While ordering a glass of wine, the waiter returned with a slice of ham covering the mouth of the glass. The puzzled king quizzed the young waiter who explained he placed the ham as a cover to keep the wind from blowing dust into his drink.

Alfonso was so impressed by the waiters’ piece of ingenuity and enjoyed the little snack so much that he decreed all Taverns should serve Tapas from that day forward. Tapa literally means a “cover” or “a lid”.
