d artist’s studios of this land we love. Gabriella Ranelli de Aguirre is a Spanish food expert who contributes to Spanish and international media. Considered the leading foreign observer of the Basque Culinary scene Gabriella holds a Masters degree in Viticulture and Oenology and as the founder of Tenedor Tours has spent the last 20 years working closely with chefs to convey the wonders of Spanish foods and wines to the English speaking world. She teaches at the Basque Culinary Center and runs Gabriella’s Kitchen, a cooking school and wine tasting center, in San Sebastian

Gabriella and her team provide a bi-lingual, bi-cultural service to the traveller who’s interested the real story - in going where the guidebooks don’t.

Classic stewed mushrooms 🍄 from They created a sea change in the history of pintxos at a time when many places were still serving a few conserves with calamares and croquetas reserved for weekends. In the 50s Bar Martinez started skewering up these just spicy enough babies and soon people were six deep at the bar with a line out the door. Their neighbors took notice and started developing their own specialties giving locals another reason to continue their quests for the perfect bite. Join us to find yours!

Venga va! Nos apetece compartir nuestro espacio con vosotras y os invitamos a vivir una experiencia estupenda entre flores, mirando al mar y con un piscolabis delicioso.

Te invitamos a visitar el jardín de Meriflauers, ubicado en el espectacular terreno de Gabriella de Tenedor Tours, frente al mar y en Igeldo, en Donostia.
Cortaremos flores frescas para vosotras, para que junto a Julia Tellechea podáis aprender a crear un ramo veraniego.
Os recibiremos a media tarde, llegaréis a pie, por un paseo de 1 km mirando el mar, luego Garbiñe nos enseñará los secretos del cultivo de sus flores, y Julia nos estará esperando para mostrarnos cómo componer un ramo, para terminar Gabriella preparará una merienda fresquita y sabrosa.

Definitely one of our favorite picnic spots. Sunshine and shade, grassy lawn and the ocean, chilly bottles in ice buckets and fresh salads and charcuterie. It even invites one to stretch out for a cat-nap under the trees.

*Very* important news in the world of Basque meats:
Pete Wells of the New York Times reviewed Ernesto's in NYC, and, according to the Twitter account , it was the first time in the Times's history that the word "txistorra" was used. (I won't be fact-checking the truthfulness of that, because it's just too lovely to be untrue) 😆
Wells describes txistorra, the fresh sausage we love to eat grilled or fried (especially wrapped in a hot corn talo) as "thumb-size sausages glowing red from paprika." Hmmm 🤔
