Our Story
Welcome to Otro Mundo Eco Domes!
Located in the beautiful Sierra del Segura (often referred to as the lungs of Spain), a two and a half hour drive from Alicante Airport, the site offers tranquility and an abundance of pristine nature. The Otro Mundo site is situated in-between forested mountains and was historically used for agriculture. The centuries-old terraces and stone walls provide a perfect setting for an ecological Dome camping.
The unspoiled scenery and clean air, along with the region's friendly people and atmosphere, will definitely entice you. The small towns in the neighborhood, like Elche de la Sierra and Yeste are beautiful medieval places built in-between the mountains. The Rio de Segura runs through these mountains, punctuated by several lakes. Nature lovers will rejoice in simply enjoying the scenery and its wildlife around the Otro Mundo site, while others might want to engage in sightseeing or other activities. We offer GPS routes for cyclists, mountain-bikers or hikers.
The Domes we offer are a great way to camp out. Staying in a Dome is very
comfortable; residing close to nature but sleeping in a warm and comfortable bed.
Our two stylishly furnished Domes each have their own en-suite bathroom with eco-friendly composting toilet and solar-heated shower. Both Domes are situated on private plots so guests will have the opportunity to relax to the full.
There is also a lovely shaded communal area with a shared kitchen, tables and chairs. There is a water spring, which flows year round. This is quite rare in the arid south of Spain. The official name for the land in the municipal records is El Fontanar (the fountain), go figure! The water is crystal clear and is used on our ecological garden, in the kitchen and for the showers in the domes.
Our aim is to be totally self sufficient and ecologically sustainable.
With pure water flowing from the mountains, our own food from the garden and electricity from solar panels Otro Mundo is operating off the grid.
We are hoping to inspire the people who come to stay with us, taking home some new insights and hopefully spreading the word about sustainable living.
We look forward to having you as our guest!
