Well well well here we are at last! 2 1/2 years and on our 6th attempt we have just arrived at our fav apartment in our fav region on our fav island 😍😊

Well, as we see a long waited for end to the pandemic, we have once again booked an Easter trip to our beloved Menorca. This will be the fourth attempt to visit in the last 2 years or so, and hopefully this one will be successful 😎😊👍

Our first trip in 2 YEARS coming up soon…..bloody Covid permitting. We’ve had 5 planned trips cancelled in the last two years 🥲 We’re going this Dec even if we have to swim! 😳😂

Still holding our breath and keeping up hope that we will be able to enjoy Christmas in beautiful Menorca! Our flights have been changed FOUR times since we booked them, but all still viable (via Barcelona…….with time for lunch only on the way home now, sadly) but still ON! 😎👍

Well well well it looks like we might be getting back to our beautiful Menorca this year after all………third time lucky?
We just abandoned any hope for the summer/autumn and have booked Christmas!! 🎉🎊🍭😊👍

We’re all fully vaccinated and will have had our booster jab by then………and the islanders themselves should all be done by then too, so we should be good. Here’s hoping! 😎

Well we’re a bit broken hearted……..due to our ever changing Covid rules in the UK, and a gov who can’t seem to stick to any policy for more than 5 mins, we’ve had to cancel our planned holiday to our beloved island in July. 18 months since we’ve been and no idea if we’ll be able to go at all this year 🥲🥲🥲
Hope some of you can go and enjoy the island, but it looks like 2022 at the earliest for us 😕

Watched the Two Hairy Bikers the other night on TV……….Mahon Fish Market and Mahon gin both featured prominently 😍😎😊
Oh, and of course Menorca’s most famous creation and export (shame they didn’t patent it!) - Mayonnaise! (or more originally, Mahonaisse 😎)

Only 9 and a bit weeks until we’re back! Can’t wait! 😍😊🥂

Well we’ve taken a chance and booked some flights for July! 😳 We’ll be fully vaccinated by then , but hoping most of the island will be too, it at least enough that means no isolation either end!
Can’t wait to see this beautiful island again..........and sincerely hoping our fav restaurants have survived 😍😊👍

Recharge the batteries

The world is a crazy busy place for many of us - work, family, social, media, the latest “must have” been rammed down our throats! Menorca is a place to get away from all of that, and recharge the batteries, properly! At least that’s what it’s done for us, and we wanted to share that. The Balearic Islands, off the coast of Barcelona, Spain, are known for many things, mostly to do with summer beach holidays (Majorca, the biggest island), or PARTY TIME! (Ibiza, the craziest island), but surprisingly few people know much about Menorca, the second biggest island, the UNESCO Biosphere, the island which has tightly controlled its tourist development to keep its culture, beauty and character in tact. Even fewer know the rich history of this island (Catalan in culture) and its strong links to Britain; its wonderful food (lots of beef, cheeses, and gin, thanks to that British Empire link in the glory days of the 18th Century, as well as stunning seafood of course).

There are many lovely places to stay on the island, but we have found the north, at Fornells, to be the most authentic, and beautiful. On the other side of the hill from Fornells harbours lies Fornells Playas, with a long-standing, traditional development of white-washed walled, terracotta-roofed apartments, the most northerly group of which sits right on the sea - Tamarindos. We have stayed there many times, in a lovely, rustic but spotlessly clean, 3 bedroom apartment.........ideal for 4 adults, or two adults and up to 4 children. We’ll post some pictures, and are happy to provide more details for anyone wishing to stay there.
