🌉Puente de Hierro🌉

The history of this bridge dates back to about the 18th century and was a very important element, as Guardamar only had access from the south due to the river.

In 1789, the first bridge was built, in the Baroque style and raised in stone, which is essential as it begins an extension of agricultural productive systems in the area.

In the mid-19th century the bridge lost several sections of its bridge to a flood, which were replaced by wood and reed. However, wood deteriorates when in contact with water.

At the beginning of the 20th century motor vehicles appear in Spain and because of the weight, the bridge poses a danger to its passers-by. As a consequence, there is a lot of pressure from the press for the Guardamar authorities to act.

On January 31, 1923, King Alfonso XIII visits the people and detect the danger that the bridge poses to everyone. Therefore, shortly after the Civil Governor was informed that the bridge is reconstructed.

In 1929, a new bridge was finally built with a metal structure joined with rivets (the same technique used in the Eiffel Tower)

🖼🎨 If you love art, you can't miss this invitation to spiritual reflection. 🎨🖼

The painter Antonio Ballesta hands over to the Council of Guardamar a set of works. These are fourteen oil works on canvas and two pencil works on paper.

The works that are given are representative of the professional trajectory of this author and come to complement and enrich the artist funds that the Guardamar City Council already possesses.

From February 7th to March 21st they will be exhibited at Casa de Cultura.

Desde el día 7 de febrero hasta el 21 de marzo estarán expuestas en Casa de Cultura.

Did you know that our church of Sant Jaume was designed by the engineer José Agustín de Larramendi?
Its construction began in 1845, and the works were completed in 1910.
Some canvases and pieces of goldsmithing and imagination, such as the carvings of Sant Jaume Pelegrí and the Mare de Deu del Rosari, are rescued goods from the old parish located in the castle hill.

🌂🎩 Yesterday and today the pupils of Molivent, Catholic Kings and Lady of Guardamar have visited the House of Engineer Mira. In it, the inhabitants of the house, Teresa and Javier have explained to them very interesting things, who was the engineer, how the forest repopulation works were.
They have also introduced local products, such as the encanarias, the nyora, and how to prepare the salmorreta.
A teaching activity and very fun.

🍤🍅 Yesterday the Restaurant Origen participated in FITUR, representing the Guardamar Restaurante Association in a Cooking Show in which he prepared a "Prawn Ceviche with Gelatin of ñora" mmmm yummy yummy.
This activity was followed by the students of the T'Avalem employment workshop.

🎊🎉 Good morning, at the Tourism Office we are congratulating!!!. Yesterday the Mayor of Guardamar, Jose Luis Sáez attended the event the "NocheQ25" event of giving awards and tourist badges Q.
The Tourism office has received this quality stamp that is added to the SICTED.
The event took place at the Crystal Gallery of the Palace of Cibeles in Madrid. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
