Ibiza airport inaugurated an information point this Friday to promote the use of legal transport among tourists arriving on the island and prevent them from opting for the pirate taxis that operate in the terminal.

The information point is located in the arrivals hall and was presented this Friday by the island's director of Transport, Roberto Algaba, the director of Ibiza airport, Marta Torres, and the president of the Federación Insular del Taxi de Eivissa (Fitie), Toni Roig.

Algaba explained that this is "another measure to dissuade people from using illegal transport, which, as we all know, is dangerous and seriously affects our island".

The island director also said that a video is being prepared and will soon be shown on the airport screens to discourage tourists from choosing illegal transport.

The president of Fitie, Toni Roig, explained that the people in charge of the stand will have the function of "interacting directly" with users, informing them about the taxi rank, prices and handing out leaflets with the routes as well as how the taxi application works on the island.

For her part, airport director Marta Torres has assured that calls to the Guardia Civil are continuous, and also to the local police, "between two and three times a day" and that they are holding meetings with the Consell de Ibiza to provide more resources to reduce illegal transport.

Finally, Algaba acknowledged that the stand is a few meters away from the focus of recruitment of pirate taxi drivers, who are located in front of the arrivals gate, but has indicated that visitors eventually have to pass in front of the official transport stand to leave the terminal, and "can at least call their attention and make them think about it".

"It is the user who is responsible for taking the last illegal transport and has to be aware of the dangers involved. It goes without insurance and is highly correlated with robberies in the villages they go to. Illegal transport is very dangerous," insisted the island director.

El aeropuerto de Ibiza ha inaugurado este viernes un punto de información para promover el uso del transporte legal entre los turistas que llegan a la isla y evitar que opten por los taxis pirata que operan en la terminal.

El punto de información está instalado en el vestíbulo de llegadas y ha sido presentado este viernes por el director insular de Transporte, Roberto Algaba, la directora del aeropuerto de Ibiza, Marta Torres, y el presidente de la Federación Insular del Taxi de Eivissa (Fitie), Toni Roig.

Según ha explicado Algaba, es una “medida más para disuadir a la gente de que use el transporte ilegal, que como todos sabemos, es peligroso y afecta muy seriamente a nuestra isla”.

El director insular también ha avanzado que se está elaborando un vídeo que se emitirá pronto en las pantallas del aeropuerto para desalentar que los turistas elijan el transporte ilegal.

El presidente de Fitie, Toni Roig, ha detallado que las personas encargadas del estand tendrán la función de “interactuar de forma directa” con los usuarios, informar sobre la parada, los precios y entregar panfletos con los trayectos así como sobre cómo funciona la aplicación del taxi en la isla.

Por su parte, la directora del aeropuerto Marta Torres ha asegurado que las llamadas a la Guardia Civil son continuas, y también a la Policía Local, “entre dos y tres veces al día” y que mantienen reuniones con el Consell de Ibiza para poner más medios para reducir el transporte ilegal.

Por último, Algaba ha reconocido que el estand está a unos metros alejado del foco de captación de los taxistas piratas, que se ubican frente a la puerta de llegadas, pero ha indicado que los visitantes al final tienen que pasar por delante del estand de transporte oficial para salir por la terminal, y “puede por lo menos, llamarle la atención y que se lo piense”.

“El responsable de coger el transporte ilegal último es el usuario y tiene que conocer los peligros que conlleva. Va sin seguro y está muy correlacionado con los robos en las villas a las que ellos van. El transporte ilegal es algo muy peligroso”, ha insistido el director insular.
