At the beginning of August Paul paid a visit to one of the local bodegas (winery) with a couple of guests.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the same bodega Bodegas Viña Elena in Jumilla.

The tour guide was Maria, she is the great granddaughter of the man who founded the bodega. Today it is still a family run business.

We had a tour of the winery including the vineyard and to see where all the magic is carried out. From picking the grapes, to the fermentation process to the wine production and storage in oak barrels. We also enjoyed lunch which was included in the price. Also included with the lunch was a sample of the wines, there was a white, a red and a dessert wine. This was at a cost of €32 per person.

After lunch we had the opportunity to go to the shop to buy some wine, they also sell their own olive oil, pressed from olives from their own trees, almonds that they have also been harvested from their own trees. The shop also includes candles and soap that have a fragrance of the grapes.
