It was really only a matter of time that Basque wine producers would break away from DOCa Rioja. The yet to be approved Viñedos de Álava will be spectacular from a quality perspective but abandoning the Rioja brand name will be a big challenge. The new Rioja regional classification as explained by WineFolly, defining the 3 separate zones (Alta, Alavesa and Oriental), Municipios and Viñedo Singlular. Interesting to hear that there will also be a quality Riojan Sparkling wine category too.

Our Story

Jenny studied Spanish, French and Italian at university and fell in love with wine through travel. In 2005 she moved to La Rioja, Spain to study a Masters in Viticulture and Oenology and to gain wine making experience.

Her unquenchable wanderlust and curiosity to find out about other cultures sparked an interest to understand how wines are made and what makes them different in each wine region.

She has guided wine tours for many years in countries as far and wide as Argentina, Chile, Italy and Spain, and works now as a freelance wine educator and wine tour guide.

Jenny is currently studying for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Diploma in London and has completed WSET level 3.
