🏍 For two months we will travel along the coasts of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece. We will visit the lighthouses, towns along the way and we will draw up the tracks to make it easier for you to travel along this great Route of the Lighthouses.

Morups Tånge fyr 311 98 Glommen, Suecia

ℹ️ Morup's Tånge Lighthouse began to be built in 1841, and was completed in 1843.

The lighthouse is about 28 meters high.

On November 1, 1843, the wicks of the kerosene lamp were lit for the first time to spread their light over the Kattegat. In the years 1843-1887, an oil lamp with three wicks was used as a light source and with a lens apparatus of the 2nd order. The light beam had a strength of 2500 Hefner lights (comparable to approx. 125 W light bulb) and gave a solid white light.

In 1887, a change was made to kerosene and to 4 wicks, which gave a brightness of 5000 Hefner lights, still with a solid white glow. In 1906 screens with red and green glass were installed.
After this, the lighthouse showed a green light to the south and a red light to the north. In 1907, a three-light Lux lamp with a filament sock was installed, which increased the brightness to a whopping 15,000 Hefner lights.

We form a great community.

The Lighthouse Route is a 26,000 km coastal route through ten countries and the Mediterranean and Cantabrian Seas and the Atlantic Ocean.

Travellers, municipalities and companies work for the sustainability and conservation of our coasts and oceans on the Lighthouse Route.

Our aim is to promote and publicise the tourist resources of the towns and places along this route.

This community is open to the incorporation of new members who want to actively participate in the sustainability and conservation of our coasts and oceans on the Lighthouse Route.

On our route along the Spanish coast near the lighthouse of Cabo de Palos, there is the Manga del Mar Menor, an area that we must take care of and protect.

What is happening in the Mar Menor?
The Mar Menor has been suffering for decades from overlapping aggressions ranging from mining activity to the arrival of tourism in the 1970s and the uncontrolled urbanisation of La Manga. However, it has been the change in the agricultural regime and the dumping of nitrate-based fertilisers that have led to the collapse of the lagoon in recent years. Eutrophication, the excessive nutrient enrichment of an aquatic ecosystem, is the disease from which the Mar Menor has been suffering for years.

We form a large community

The Lighthouse Route is a 26,000 km route through eleven countries.

Farol da Guia - Faro de Guia- Portugal

ℹ️ Located in Cabo da Guia, about 2 km west of the centre of Cascais. It is an octagonal tower of white masonry.
From 1523, this spot on the Portuguese coast was illuminated by the chapel of the Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Guia. In 1537, the brothers of the hermitage erected a tower where a group of four or five oil lights were lit. This light was maintained about 8 months of the year by the inhabitants of the area.

ℹ️ Campen lighthouse

The Campen lighthouse standing at 65 metres high is Germany’s largest lighthouse. Its interesting structure takes the form of a lattice tower. Not only does it resemble the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it was also constructed in the same year. It is also commonly known as ‘The Eiffel Tower’s little brother’ or ‘The Eiffel Tower of the North Sea’.

The lighthouse was built in 1889 and stands northwest of Emden at the mouth of the Ems river in the North Sea. The tower is not just the biggest lighthouse in Germany, it is also the most powerful German light beacon with a range of approx. 55 kilometres.

If you take the trouble to climb the 308 steps up to the lower gallery of the tower, you will be rewarded on a clear day with a view that reaches as far as Borkum and over the Krummhörn as far as Emden. And therefore, it can also serve as an orientation aid for large ships that have to find their way past Borkum to the mouth of the Ems. An information pavilion next to the tower offers information about the "East Frisian Eiffel Tower".

At the foot of the Campén lighthouse is the Maritime Signal Garden. Here a large number of buoys, beacons and buoys are displayed, which are intended to provide information about shipping along the North Sea coast.

Skrova - Skrova fyr

The Skrova lighthouse was designed by Carl Wiig in 1920, and a team of carpenters from Volda were hired to build it. It was first established in 1922 and automated in 2005. It was listed as a protected site in 1999.
