🏍 For two months we will travel along the coasts of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece. We will visit the lighthouses, towns along the way and we will draw up the tracks to make it easier for you to travel along this great Route of the Lighthouses.

Morups Tånge fyr 311 98 Glommen, Suecia

ℹ️ Morup's Tånge Lighthouse began to be built in 1841, and was completed in 1843.

The lighthouse is about 28 meters high.

On November 1, 1843, the wicks of the kerosene lamp were lit for the first time to spread their light over the Kattegat. In the years 1843-1887, an oil lamp with three wicks was used as a light source and with a lens apparatus of the 2nd order. The light beam had a strength of 2500 Hefner lights (comparable to approx. 125 W light bulb) and gave a solid white light.

In 1887, a change was made to kerosene and to 4 wicks, which gave a brightness of 5000 Hefner lights, still with a solid white glow. In 1906 screens with red and green glass were installed.
After this, the lighthouse showed a green light to the south and a red light to the north. In 1907, a three-light Lux lamp with a filament sock was installed, which increased the brightness to a whopping 15,000 Hefner lights.

We form a great community.

The Lighthouse Route is a 26,000 km coastal route through ten countries and the Mediterranean and Cantabrian Seas and the Atlantic Ocean.

Travellers, municipalities and companies work for the sustainability and conservation of our coasts and oceans on the Lighthouse Route.

Our aim is to promote and publicise the tourist resources of the towns and places along this route.

This community is open to the incorporation of new members who want to actively participate in the sustainability and conservation of our coasts and oceans on the Lighthouse Route.

On our route along the Spanish coast near the lighthouse of Cabo de Palos, there is the Manga del Mar Menor, an area that we must take care of and protect.

What is happening in the Mar Menor?
The Mar Menor has been suffering for decades from overlapping aggressions ranging from mining activity to the arrival of tourism in the 1970s and the uncontrolled urbanisation of La Manga. However, it has been the change in the agricultural regime and the dumping of nitrate-based fertilisers that have led to the collapse of the lagoon in recent years. Eutrophication, the excessive nutrient enrichment of an aquatic ecosystem, is the disease from which the Mar Menor has been suffering for years.

The Lighthouse Route is a 26,000 km route through eleven countries.

Our aim is to promote sustainable routes, to raise awareness of this route and the tourist resources of the towns and places along the route.
