Mickel Denissen is an inspiring mountain biker who refuses to let adversity hold him back. After a devastating accident in 2008 left him with a paralyzed right arm, Mickel faced a long road to recovery. But his passion for cycling never waned. In 2016, he fulfilled his dream of competing in the Crocodile Trophy thanks to a customised bike that allowed him to continue riding despite his injury. Mickel’s determination has only grown since then, leading him to conquer challenges like the Sahara and the Atlas Mountains. This summer, Mickel geared up for a new adventure together with Pa-Cycling: a 750 km ride through the Mongolian Steppes to raise funds for a project transforming a church into a life school and supported housing for kids with disabilities.

Mickel’s mission is clear—to show that weakness can be turned into strength.

Our Mongolia Bikepacking 2024 trip has come to an end, and with it a tone of memories, here just a couple of shots that will introduce you a bit on what you can live during this trip.

Up or down, left or right, on one side or in the middle this are just some of the several questions you make to yourself when you are trying to find the best path for reaching the final destination of the first stage in Patagonia.

The first 95 kms are on a delicious tarmac with just one climb up Cuesta the Miguez, then we reach El cerrito, where we make a nice break, eat, drink, rest for a few minutes and gain some strength to go for the final stretch and reach Estancia El Manantial. It is only 37 kms that will be worth the scenery and the destinations, cause being able to spend some time with Miguel "el gaucho" is a one of a kind experience!

Well, this season you can either spend New years eve with us in Patagonia or be one of the only three lucky persons that can select a spot in January's tour. Which is it going to be, New years eve or January??

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!!

Last year we made an effort that we knew was risky and absolutely not financially profitable, but we wanted to bet for it, cause we truly believe in this tour, Atacama. We decided that we were going to do the tour with the only passenger that signed up for it in 2023. Yes, you read well, we went to Atacama with just one person, because we wanted to show him, and all of you, how wonderful this part of the world is. Today, with just a few months to go again to the most arid desert in the world, we are very happy to say that there are still three chances for you to come, yes ONLY three, cause the other 9 slots have already been taken! So, you better hurry up to enjoy Mars, sorry Atacama!!

The ship is getting ready to depart, and the cyclonauts are finalizing the details of their bikes to cross a land that is many of its places similar to Mars.

Have you ever wondered how many things you have to carry for a month in Mongolia accompanying two tours and a one week bike-rafting trip?? Well, our tour leader is leaving in two days to spend a month between the vast steppes of Mongolia and the mountains surrounding Ulaanbaatar.

Nacho is guiding two tours and in between he will be exploring an area near ulaanbaatar with his bike and packraft. No we haven't introduced bike-rafting trips in our catalog...... yet... ;)

From the Dolomites to Venice - SISTERHOOD is a trip organized by Pa-Cycling and designed for women in cooperation with two experienced bike travelers who will accompany the group, Angela and Simona.

The starting point is the Asiago Plateau, in the Veneto Pre-Alps, a magical place characterized by fir forests, shepherd’s cottages and the memory of the Great War.
From the mountains we will descend towards the plain in a fun up and down on gentle hills where excellent wines are produced. We will visit wonderful historic towns including Bassano del Grappa, Asolo and Treviso. Following the turquoise waters of the river Sile we will land in the heart of the Venetian lagoon. Following a beautiful cycle path we will reach Punta Sabbioni. A final surprise will conclude the trip: a visit to Burano, the Venetian island famous for its bright colors.

Why a trip just for women? In Pa-Cycling we believe in the power of women’s communities and we think that cycling is a great way to share and explore the world. We have traveled by bicycle for a long time and are eager to encourage more and more women to do so. This tour is meant to be an opportunity to learn together and exchange experiences, specifically designed for women.

ABRA DEL ACAY
With nothing less than 4895m of elevation you will conquer the heights of the highest pass of Ruta nacional 40. Afterwards, be ready to enjoy one of the longest descents you will probably do in your life!

QUEBRADA DE LAS FLECHAS
This natural spectacle consists of a series of vertical rock formations, sculpted by millions of years of erosion, creating a dazzling landscape of peaks and ravines. Its historical relevance dates back to the ancient indigenous civilizations that inhabited the region, such as the Diaguitas. For them, this place had a deep spiritual meaning, and traces of its presence can still be found today in the form of rock art. Quebrada de las Flechas is located in an arid and mountainous area of the Andes, which adds to its beauty and uniqueness. Altitude and extreme climate have shaped this unique landscape over millennia.

CAFAYATE
With a rich history dating back to pre-Columbian times, Cafayate has been inhabited by various cultures over the centuries. Today, it is primarily known for its production of high-quality wines, especially the Torrontés grape variety, which is grown in the area's vineyards. The city is home to a vibrant cultural scene, with music and folklore festivals held throughout the year.

QUEBRADA DE LAS CONCHAS
Quebrada de las Conchas ia also known as Quebrada de Cafayate, is an impressive canyon of unique rock formations. It extends for approximately 70 kilometers, offering a visual spectacle of surprising colors and shapes, from red rocks to green and violet. It is a living testament to the geological history of the region and is home to fossils of ancient animals.

Today we will go from the "lows" of Purmamarca to the highs of Salinas grandes and San antonio de los cobres. Today we will start embarking feeling a new change of landscape that is unique from this area.

CUESTA DEL LIPAN
This route is part of the ancient Inca path and has witnessed countless stories and legends. Its historical relevance dates back to ancient civilizations, which left their mark on the landscape and culture of the region. The Cuesta del Lipán challenges cyclists with its mountainous terrain and altitude. With heights exceeding 4,000 meters above sea level, cyclists face a physical and mental challenge as they explore its winding curves and breathtaking landscapes.

SALINAS GRANDES
The Salinas Grandes are a vast salt desert that extends over an area of approximately 12,000 hectares. These salt flats have a rich and culturally significant history. Used by the native peoples of the region since ancient times, the Salinas Grandes have been an important center of commercial and ritual exchange. Today, they are a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from all over the world for their beauty. Las Salinas Grandes are one of the largest salt flats in Argentina and one of the main lithium reserves in the world.

TREN DE LAS NUBES
The Train to the Clouds is a must-see attraction, taking you through spectacular landscapes to impressive heights. Is known for being one of the tallest trains in the world. The history of the Cloud Train dates back to the 19th century, when it was built with the purpose of connecting the city of Salta with the mountainous regions of the province. Its relevance lies in the spectacular nature of its route, which crosses the Quebrada del Toro and the Puna, reaching altitudes of up to 4,220 meters above sea level.

During the next 3 days we will be talking about the highlights of “Northern Argentina” one of the most autochthonous areas and that best preserves the culture and traditions of all Argentina. We will go from the dry and arid lands of Salta to the humid territories of Paso de la cornisa which will make us feel that we are pedaling in a tropical forest on our way to San Salvador de JUJUY.

SALTA is located in the northwest of Argentina, it is known for its stunning mountainous landscape, fertile valleys and a dry subtropical climate that makes it an ideal year-round destination. Known as "La Linda" for its colonial architectural beauty. Salta's gastronomy reflects its cultural and geographical diversity like empanadas salteñas, locro (a traditional stew), humitas, tamales and delicious llama meat. Salta is famous for its colonial architecture, such as the Cathedral Basilica of Salta and the Convent of San Bernardo.

LA CORNISA, JUJUY
La Cornisa is the name given to the route that connects the Argentine provinces of Salta and Jujuy, winding through impressive mountain landscapes. From plateaus to deep canyons, this route offers spectacular views around every turn. This highway is more than just a road; It is a journey through the history and culture of Argentina. During the tour, cyclists can discover ancient Inca ruins, colonial towns and historical sites that tell the history of the region.

PURMAMARCA
Purmamarca is a charming town located in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. Its name means "desert town" in the Quechua language and it is located at the foot of the famous Cerro de los Siete Colores. This place is recognised for its surreal landscape, where the mountains exhibit a palette of vibrant colors that change with the sunlight. The geography of Purmamarca is impressive, with the Cerro de los Siete Colores as its main attraction. This hill is famous for its unique hues, ranging from deep red to green and purple. In addition, the town is surrounded by the imposing landscape of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Who hasn't felt that mix of excitement and nervousness before a great cycling adventure? From the doubts of: "Will I really be able to do it?"... the: "What ifs?"... the: "maybe it's too much for me" while you pack everything in your saddlebags, to the excitement of exploring new places, meeting new people, living the adventure... Thoughts and emotions don't let you sleep a wink before the expected day. Those butterflies in your stomach are the sign THIS IS THE WAY!!!! An unforgettable experience is ahead... YOU KNOW IT.

During the trip there are so many things happening internally and externally. (We don't want to spam you with this, we prefer that you live it in flesh and bones).

People say that riding a bike is like doing therapy, and yes, they are correct. You start the trip being one person and you end being another, every kilometer traveled leaves a mark on your soul, transforming you into someone stronger, braver and more connected to the world around you. There is no way to deny it, the trip ALWAYS gives you something. You leave with an internal satisfaction, a learning of yourself and live much greater than what you had, new friends, wisdom and a lot of storys to tell. Returning from a cycling adventure does not mean the end, but the beginning of a new stage! BUT... you can only experience all this if you dare to take the leap.

Have you ever wondered how many things you have to carry for a month in Mongolia accompanying two tours and a one week bike-rafting trip?? Well, our tour leader @natxop is leaving in two days to spend a month between the vast steppes of Mongolia and the mountains surrounding Ulaanbaatar. Nacho is guiding two tours and in between he will be exploring an area near ulaanbaatar with his bike and packraft. No we haven't introduced bike-rafting trips in our catalog...... yet... ;) Shall we tell to some of the passengers coming to this first group to show us what are they taking in their bags??
