📜Venetian masks have a long history and rich traditions behind them. Made of paper mache, velvet, and lace, decorated with feathers, rhinestones, gold and silver leaf, they are veritable works of wearable art. With their whimsical designs and promise of mystery, Venetian masks appeal to your sense of drama and quickly seduce you.

⏳Journey through centuries of tradition, where masks, once a social equalizer, have evolved into coveted souvenirs. Originating in Venice's Carnival, these masks transcended the festivities, becoming a year-round symbol of anonymity and class mingling.

🎨The art of mask-making burgeoned in the 13th century, organized under the guild 'Arte dei Depentori.' From painters to gilders, artisans crafted masks, recognized officially in 1436. Wearing masks became a norm, even compulsory in certain social settings like theaters.

🚫As Venice faced decline in the 18th century, so did the number of mask-making workshops. By 1773, only 12 remained, employing 31 people. With the fall of the Republic in 1797, the Venetian Carnival was banned, and masks vanished from public life, plunging the craft into obscurity.

✨A renaissance occurred in 1979, led by enthusiasts dedicated to reviving the glory of the Venetian Carnival. Mask-making studios and shops emerged, delving into historical techniques and designs. Today, Venetian masks are not just accessories; they symbolize the resplendence and cultural richness of Venice.
