madridrunningtours Slowly but surely running is returning to Madrid! Today's run ended in the Parque del Oeste which lies on the western edge of Madrid. Finished in 1905, this beautiful park used to be the city's main garbage dump during the 19th century.

Today I had the pleasure of being able to meet up and run with Rachel and Neil Turney from Australia. They were an absolutely charming and easygoing couple which made the run that more enjoyable. Many thanks to the two of you for coming out to run through Madrid with me this morning!!

Salomon has recently opened its first retail space in Madrid. They decided to hire Madrid Running Tours for various runs through Madrid for their clients during May and June. Here are some pictures of the events!

Madrid Rio is a large recreational area down where the Manzanares River runs. It has quite a few interesting bridges, some very old, that span it. Today I had the pleasure to run it with Niv Gafter from Israel who was a lot of fun to be with! Thanks for everything Niv!!

Big 30k run through Madrid and the Casa de Campo in which, without a shadow of a doubt, I felt my age! I had the good fortune of being accompanied by Katie Kuvin from Ohio who besides being an excellent runner was an absolute sweetheart and a pleasure to run with! Thanks for everything Katie!!
Hoy tocó un recorrido de 30 kms, por Madrid y la Casa de Campo en el cual conocí, sin duda alguna, mi edad! Tuve la suerte de estar acompañado por Katie Kuvin de Ohio que, además de ser una magnífica corredora, fue un encanto y un placer tener como acompañante! Muchísimas gracias por todo Katie!!

We're going through a pretty severe heatwave in Madrid these days. If you're going to run, do it early like Mirka and Kim from Finland did. They were not only disclipined runners for coming out to run with me this morning, but also charming, loads of fun and a blast to be with! Thanks for everything!!
Estamos pasando por una ola de calor bastante severa en Madrid estos dias. Si vas a correr, hazlo temprano como lo han hecho Mirka y Kim de Finlandia. No solo fueron unos corredores disciplinados por el hecho de salir conmigo esta mañana, sino tambien encantadores y muy divertidos! Muchísimas gracias por todo!!

Many thanks to Zuza and Andrzej from Poland who took a nice long backstreet run, besides the typical sites, through Madrid yesterday afternoon. Despite the heat and crowds, they never lost their cheer throughout the entire run making it all that much easier!!

Boy, did I get a whipping in the Casa de Campo this morning! I went out for a nice beginner's run with Andrea Bravo from San Diego, California and I ended up doing almost 20k with a running machine. Thanks for the great run Andrea and for the company. It was a pleasure!!
Menuda paliza me han dado por la Casa de Campo esta mañana! Salí pensando hacer un recorrido para principiantes con Andrea Bravo de San Diego, California, y acabé haciendo casi 20 kms con una maquina de correr. Muchísimas gracias por salir conmigo y por la compañia Andrea. Ha sido un placer!!

The weather has turned from almost summerlike to quite cold in Madrid. Good news for Dutch runners Meilan and Dennis, who, like yours truly, prefer the cold to the heat! Along with that came the brightness and cheer they provided me throughout our run which went through Madrid and the Casa de Campo. Afterwards we could have eaten a cow! Thanks so much to the two of you for coming out with me this morning!
El tiempo se ha vuelto de semi-veraniego a medio invernal en Madrid lo cual ha sido una buena noticia para Meilan y Dennis, dos corredores holandeses. Ellos, como le ocurre a un servidor, prefieren el frio al calor! Además del frio, me han traido mucha alegría y diversión a lo largo de nuestro recorrido por Madrid y la Casa de Campo. Huelga decir que al final podríamos habernos zampado una vaca! Muchísimas gracias a los dos por haber salido conmigo esta mañana!

I had no runs through Madrid yesterday (it was hot in Madrid) so I took off to the mountains and did a 38k run from Cercedilla to the Roman Aqueduct in Segovia. Part of the route is a portion of the Saint James Way. It was really hot at the end and that's the last time I wear black on these type of runs at this time of year!
No tuve salidas por Madrid ayer, así que decidí irme a correr a la sierra y hacer un recorrido de 38 kms desde Cercedilla hasta el Acueducto Romano de Segovia. Una parte de la ruta es tambíen parte del Camino de Santiago. Hizo mucho calor al final y por eso he tomado la decisión de no volver a hacer esta clase de rutas en esta época del año vestido de negro!

It was pretty cold for a run this morning, but Janine Haidar made it all that much easier. She was a lot fun, great to talk with and made the 17k run a breeze. To top it off, she bought me a coffee. Thanks a lot for the run and the coffee Janine!
Hacía bastante frío para correr esta mañana, pero Janine Haidar lo hizo muchísimo más llevadero. Fue muy divertida y amena e hizo que los 17 kms. pasasen en un periquete. Encima me invitó a un café para rematarlo del todo. Muchísimas gracias por correr conmigo y por el café Janine!

Beautiful Christmasy day in Madrid for a long 22k run through Madrid and the Casa de Campo. I was very well accompanied by Isabella and Marcello from Milan who are not only excellent runners but also extremely charming and great company! Grazie mille!!
Ha sido un día muy bonito y navideño para hacer un recorrido largo de 22 kms por Madrid y la Casa de Campo. Estuve muy bien acompañado por Isabella y Marcello, ambos de Milan. Took the city running to the country today. I had the pleasure to show my friend and long-time client, Blair Northcott, the Guadarrama mountains today!

After a well deserved two week rest, we're back into full swing again and what a better way to do so but with New Yorkers Kristine and John who bravely set forth with me this morning and packed a 21k run in! Congratulations and thanks again for the great company!

Although we're going through an unprecedented heat wave this entire week in Madrid, the runs haven't let up at all. This is great because I get to meet really nice people like Welshman David Lewis who was an absolute blast as a running companion! Thanks for making things so easy David!

What a great morning run through the Casa de Campo with Travis Graham! Practically there wasn't a soul around and it was cool enough to get a nice 18k in finishing off in the Parque del Oeste. Thanks for the great company Travis and, of course, keeping me in good shape!

Practicamente no había ni un alma y estaba lo suficientemente fresco para meternos 18 kms entre pecho y espalda para acabar en el Parque del Oeste. Had a nice morning run with Itay Gabay from Tel-Aviv, who besides being a real nice guy and an excellent tri-athlete and runner, bought me a coffee to top it all off at La Mallorquina in the Puerta del Sol! Thanks for the run and the coffee!!
Tuve una salida matutina muy placentera con Gabay Itay de Tel-Aviv. Además de ser una persona encantadora y un excelente tri-atleta y corredor, me invitó a un café en La Mallorquina en Sol para rematar el recorrido! Muchísimas gracias por correr conmigo y, por supuesto, por el café!!
