The first trek of the year through the impressive Sierra Grazalema mountains to the mighty Cueva del Hundidero! This region has a completely different eco system to coast, with rolling green hills with the impressive back drop of vast mountain ranges!

The wild Sierra de Grazalema is home to the largest subterranean labyrinth of caves in Andalucia, the longest being the Hundidero-Gato cave network with 10km of subterranean routes, with a 60 meter entrance deep within a vast tropical gorge.

With a unique tropical eco system, this is why I call this region the jungles of Andalusia! Trekking through this wild rugged mountain canyon is a unique outback experience!

Used as a refuge for hunter gatherers 14000 years ago during the Upper Palaeolithic era, further into these caves show incredible Palaeolithic art work of ancient hunters. Home to the largest bat colony in Spain, the hibernation site for just over 100,000 bats!

The countryside Ventas (rustic roadside restaurants) are just incredible in this region, always buzzing with large groups of Spanish families with just unbeatable prices! Finishing with ice cold beers and tapas in the winter sun is always a winner!

Listening to the wind whistle through the wings of eagles soaring through mountain canyons, on the last day of 2024..

Deep within the hidden jungles of Andalucia! The last trek of the 2024 on New Year’s Eve was just epic!

The mighty Gargante Verde mountain canyon hidden within the Sierra de Grazelema National park is home to the largest protected breeding colony of Griffon vultures in Europe, as Griffon vultures and Bonelli’s eagles circle above under bright winter sun we descend deep into this unique tropical eco system!

To enter this region of the Sierra de Grazalema requires permits, which can be limited and really need to be applied for a month before, this unique tropical canyon trek will be going ahead again before the summer heat arrives!

Hiking in the heart of the Sierra de Las Nieves National park through the mountain canyon of the Barranco de la Rejía! This wild rugged landscape holds the highest waterfall within the Malaga province, the 51 meters cascada de la Rejía! Only flowing outside the summer months, winter hiking on high mountain trails above the Río de los Caballos (river of horses) is just spectacular!

Hiking through the bright Autumn colours of the mountain forests of the Genal valley, Bosque de Cobre (copper forest) is a unique Andalusian outback experience! A rolling landscape of over a hundred year old chestnut trees! 🍁🍁🍁🍁

With its bohemian artist villages this region really does feel like it’s been lost in time! Walking through this historically deep mountain valley of white villages, with its bohemian art work, from incredible street art murals to the pueblos sculptures. Famous for its many different mushrooms species 🍄🍄🍄 and art festivals!

The Andalusian wild outback adventures made the summer of 24 really one to remember!

With a fully packed summer with 1000’s of summer photos later, here are a few of the moments caught in just an unforgettable summer!

From trekking through hidden tropical canyons to cascading waterfalls, watching eagles soar over the shoulders of groups into golden sunsets.. Mountain meditation sessions alongside emerald lagoons and wild foraging in our immense wilderness!

Welcoming new groups into the wild Andalusian outback for the first time and meeting the adventurous families from the past summer trekking seasons!

The strength and yet again bravery was shown by the Bomberos this summer, despite severe droughts wild fires were at an all time low.

With plan INFOSA the Junta de Andalucia's specialist fire brigade for preventing and fighting forest fires held strong. Allowing families and all to enjoy the rich and varied eco system of the wild Andalusian outback! 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸

One of the top summer sunset mountain trails, the rugged Sierra Crestellina! These impressive mountain ridges act as the perfect balcony towards the Riff mountains of North Africa!

Home to large colonies of Griffon vultures, watching the vultures and eagles under the golden sunset glide over our shoulders into the green Genal Valley is an incredible experience! Descending with head torches through the mountain forests trails..

Just perfect sunset views towards one of the most impressive fortified mountain pueblos of Casares, looking out towards the Pillars of Hercules, defined by the rock of Gibraltar and the North African mountain Jebel Moussa!

The summer of 24 has given us some unforgettable golden mountain sunsets! ☀️☀️☀️☀️

Just north of the Costa Tropical deep within the mountainous natural park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama lies this hidden tropical paradise!

The perfect Christmas sunset over the artist village of Genalguacil! Deep within the hidden almost lost in time Genal valley, surrounded by the protected mountains of the Serrania de ronda, lies a series of hidden bohemian authentic white washed villages, known for there open art festivals, incredible pueblo art sculptures and street murals, home to one of the most original artistic initiatives in Spain. On this encounter we met a group of Austrian artist students on a 3 month stay in Genalguacil, who kindly made mulled wine and Austrian stew for the local villages! to say thank you for there time there.. The community sprit in the mountain villages is just incredible.. Such good Christmas mountain vibes! The hiking routes from the white washed villages of the Genal valley are just incredible, from the vast Spanish Fir tree mountain forests of the Sierra Bermeja to the tropical mountain lagoons of the Rio Grande!
