One of the most iconic festivals in the municipality of Arrecife 🤩

In August, the Day of San Ginés, the patron saint of Lanzarote’s capital, is celebrated with weeks of magic and fun, featuring a programme full of activities for all ages.

In addition to the traditional religious events and street parties, there are also sporting events, children's activities, and musical performances, culminating on 25th August with concerts featuring world-renowned artists and a beautiful fireworks display ✨.

The San Ginés festivities were declared of National Tourist Interest in 1965 and attract both residents and tourists eager to enjoy the culture, music, and joy of Lanzarote 🥳.

The Largest Salt Pans in the Canary Islands 🤩

The Janubio salt pans, one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island, are located in a lagoon created by volcanic eruptions that formed a lava barrier against the sea 🌋.

They have been designated a Site of Scientific Interest due to the presence of migratory birds, and their landscape is part of Lanzarote’s cultural heritage.

We recommend visiting at sunset when the sun reflects on the ponds where the water evaporates, producing a stunning array of hues and colours 🌄.

Papas arrugadas and mojo canario: the authentic taste of Lanzarote 🇮🇨

If there is something you can't miss during your stay in Lanzarote, it is to try the famous papas arrugadas con mojo canario (wrinkled potatoes with Canarian mojo), a typical dish of the Canary Islands 🥔.

🧂 The local potatoes are cooked in water with lots of salt, which gives them that wrinkled texture and unique flavor, and the mojo is a sauce used to accompany different dishes.

The main varieties are red mojo, based on red peppers, garlic, cumin and paprika and green mojo, with coriander or parsley, garlic and a touch of vinegar.

The Roseta, a Craft Tradition 🪡

The roseta is a needlework art deeply embedded in the island of Lanzarote, requiring hours of artisanal work 😍.

In the 1950s, women in Lanzarote used thread and needle to draw on a small cushion called a pique. The result was the roseta, a delicate lace that was often joined with others to make cloths or tablecloths.

Today, it is one of the artisanal crafts found at craft stalls that captivates visitors. A legacy that is intended to be passed down to new generations 🙌.

La roseta es una labor de aguja muy presente en la isla de Lanzarote a la cual se dedican horas de trabajo artesanal 😍.

En los años 50 del siglo pasado,mujeres de Lanzarote dibujaban con hilo y aguja sobre un pequeño cojinete llamado pique. El resultado era la roseta, un fino encaje que solía unirse a otros para constituir paños o manteles.

En la actualidad es uno de los trabajos artesanales que se puede encontrar en los puestos de artesanía y que cautiva a los visitantes. Un legado que se quiere transmitir a las nuevas generaciones 🙌.
