Finca Maridadi is quite simply sublime. THE most perfect house in THE most perfect location.
The setting is superb, deep in the heart of the breathtaking Andalucian countryside just to the East of historic Ronda. The house itself is first and foremost a home - and elegantly betrays its former role as one.
Appointed exactly as one would choose for one's own holiday retreat, it has absolutely everything that one could wish for. A wonderful pool with ample terrace forms the amphitheatre for both relaxation and (child-induced) high jinx. The terrace is where everything happens - from breakfast through to the quaffing of excellent local wines late into the evening. Downstairs, the kitchen is perfect - with space to dine - and the sitting room has oodles of DVDs, Sky Sports etc for downtime during the heat of the day. Upstairs, the rooms are large and airy with plenty of bathrooms. The gardens are stunning and kept immaculately by the splendid Lawrence, an expat motorcycle enthusiast and all round good egg, who visits daily.
The local area is dominated by beautiful Ronda. A favourite of Hemingway and Welles, this jewel has plenty to see, a bewildering array of restaurants, but also all the practical stuff like supermarkets to keep Maridadi suitably victualled. It is just over an hour north of Malaga Airport and about the same from Marbella beach should the lure of the coast prove too much to resist. There are also a profusion of amazing restaurants in the countryside around Maridadi, to which Robert and Caroline can provide details and tips. A trip to one or two of the bodegas (all within 5 miles) can prove a rewarding, if somewhat squiffy, experience as well.
So, all in all, it is simply a 'must visit'. You'll love it...
