If you don't speak Swallow what they're saying, more or less, is: 'Hey girls come and sit in the shade!'

Not sure if it's trying to pick something off the windows or it's territorial behaviour on seeing its own reflection. I think the latter.
My client Andrea from the USA and I spent most of the day at the Azud de Riolobos, and we were entertained by this Grey heron trying to gatecrash a Marsh harrier's meal, unsuccessfully. There was also a crow which came and pulled the harrier's tail several times, but to no effect other than a hard stare on the part of the harrier. Later though, when the harrier had finished it's meal, the crows gathered for their own small feast.

Yesterday at the Riolobos wetland in Salamanca: osprey with fish. A Marsh harrier tried to steal the fish from it so it flew to a post and had its dinner there. We also saw a pair of Ruddy ducks, Spotted sandpiper, Curlew, Green and Common sandpiper, Dunlin, Little stint, Ruff and Black-tailed godwit amongst others, including a very lovely kingfisher.
Happy World Wetlands Day!

When cranes fly above it's a gift from the heavens.
The cranes have started arriving! These two landed at the Laguna del Cristo in Salamanca whilst we were birding. Welcome back friends!

Two beautiful Greenshank at the Laguna del Cristo, Salamanca this morning. I love the way they go from absolutely still to high acceleration chasing after their midday meal.
