We are Airbnb Superhosts, yay!!!

From when we bought Casa de la Risa, near Sotogrande on 1st June last year, we had two months to get it ready to rent out from 1st August.

Although the bones of the house were good, the items we had to sort included; broken AC, complicated front door lock not working, swimming pool full of stagnant water, security shutters being temperamental, getting things delivered when we weren't there, and putting up sun shade sails on the solarium, to name a few.

Simultaneously, we had to furnish the entire house; 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, living/dining room, everything that a good kitchen needs, roof terrace and first floor terrace with outdoor dining and BBQ, in a way that would look great and be robust enough to stand up to the rigours of people coming and going every few days - all done in 2 weeks and most of it from the UK.

Then we had to find and engage a good property manager who could represent us day to day with the guests, sort the cleaning and laundry, keep the store room stocked with items needed for the house to work day to day such as shampoo, hand soap, loo rolls, etc plus preparing the Welcome Packs for guests.

After that we had to take loads of photos and videos and set the whole thing up on Airbnb, Booking/com, and VRBO, and price it appropriately for the peak, mid and low seasons. 🥴

It's been a huge effort but also, a huge amount of fun and very satisfying to do especially when our work has been acknowledged by Airbnb, but also because the number of bookings we've taken has exceeded our best forecasts for year one and importantly the guests who've stayed with us have loved it there.

Thank you to everyone who's listened to/put up with us blabbing on about the place, and all the people who've contributed to getting it up and going. 👏

Hopefully, year two will be even better in terms of bookings, and a bit less stressful in terms of sorting stuff out - who knows, we may even eventually get to go over there and enjoy it ourselves for a bit 🙏 😂 as it really is a beautiful house in a fantastic location. ⛳️ 🎾 🐎 🛥️ 🏖️.
