On Thursdays we hike 🥾the first day since the schools went back yesterday 💪🏼 it was beautiful, all the way to and the sky always takes my breath away….. it’s January!!! How lucky are we🩵

✨As we head into the three kings celebration here in Spain, we went to visit the ‘campament reial’ (the kings elves who receive your letters for them) and it was so beautiful in every way! If you are new here it’s a real cultural treat to head out on the night of the 5th (of January) and find the kings around 6pm- see the route for them on my last slide! Bring a bag because the floats throw hundreds of sweets for the kids to grab! Enjoy it’s a very special evening 👏🎁✨❤️

Some people Love it some people hate it ☺️ and that’s ok, Either way we wish you a restful holiday season, whether you celebrate or not we hope you have a nice break from the norm♥️ See you all in 2025!
Professionally, I am very proud of how far this small business has come, year on year we get into new areas and find new projects where we can help and support people, it’s very exciting, a lot of work but I couldn’t do it without the support of all my local contacts and expat mums that help throughout the year! I’m excited for the up and coming year, welcoming new families to Catalunya, fun new projects in the pipeline and continuing to grow!

Hello 👋🏼
My name is Caitriona, I am an Irish woman🇮🇪 married to a Swede 🇸🇪, we lived in London 🇬🇧 for 10+ years, my first child was born there and my second was born in Copenhagen🇩🇰. We are now living in Spain 🇪🇸 with no intention of leaving!
In a previous life; I was a specialist nurse in critical care and nutrition👩🏻‍⚕️ I had my own party business🎈in Copenhagen, sold it and it’s still in operation (proud moment) and now I have my own relocation company here in Sant cugat📍
When I say this to people they often are not expecting that 👆🏼 in particular all the nationalities!
A hard question for me to answer is when my children ask me where they are from; because they are truly European 🇪🇺 sure they were born and lived in other cultures and spoke other languages but where they are from?? perhaps they will say Catalunya when they can decide. One thing is for certain they will feel it ❤️ (also another certainty is; we are third culture parents which comes with all sorts of learning curves 😅)
The next question I get is; did you not want to nurse in the country’s you’ve lived in and in my heart I did but in reality it didn’t work out for one reason or another, hours, language etc etc!
Reinvention is a big part of my life as an expat 💫 not because I have to but because I wanted too! I wanted to work, I wanted to make life easier for people like us, I wanted to help people successfully move country. I continue to want to help expats start businesses and support in any way I can, why?
Because….. Being an expat is hard and it’s also a wild journey for the whole family, some take longer than others to find their path, for me it’s took years but also it’s about timing! Timing is everything - but you have to believe in yourself and jump because it might be the best thing you’ve ever done ❤️

In case you didn’t know it was mushroom season, just take an ‘off the beaten track’ hike in and you can see all the different types of wonderful of mushrooms in the wild 🍄‍🟫 ***please don’t eat any unless you are entirely sure you can or you have someone with you that knows their stuff 🍄❌

This week you will be asked to bring your children to school dressed as castañera/o’s 🌰 it is the traditional ‘Halloween’ 🎃 of Catalunya; the boys and girls dress up in aprons and head scarf’s (girls) or flat caps (boys) it’s a very sweet tradition and your children will come home with yummy warm chestnuts to eat 😋 given to them by a old lady (the castañera) who visits them in class and they love it! 🤎

The weather has been so moody in Sant cugat recently 🌦️ but it doesn’t stop us hiking 💪🏼 look at these photos 🩶
we may of got caught in the rain and then instantly got hot again ☔️🥵
I still get surprised by the reaction to rain here😄😂people drive like maniacs, they run like it’s acid and I’m being serious….. some kids don’t go to school BECAUSE IT’S RAINING 😂 baring in mind when we lived in Denmark, ‘the rain was not the problem, you were simply not dressed appropriately’ needless to say all my genuine winter clothes are in storage since our move 😂🤣
