The Portuguese Way has a long history dating back to the 12th century, and was highly promoted and supported by the former Portuguese crown. This route documents the pilgrimage from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela. In the 14th century, Isabel of Portugal herself and her entourage made this pilgrimage after the death of Don Dinís.
