Tomorrow, 15th August, is the day of Seville's Patron Virgin, the Virgen de los Reyes ✨

If you're an early riser, you can catch a glimpse of her around the Cathedral. The procession lasts about an hour and a half, from 08:00 to 09:30 AM ☀️

This life-sized image, standing 176 centimetres tall, was created by an anonymous artist in the first half of the 13th century. The sculpture is fully articulated at the neck, arms, legs, and torso, and originally, the image could be raised to bless the people

The Virgen de los Reyes was canonically crowned on 4th December 1904, becoming the first Marian image in Andalusia to receive this honour 👑

Itálica is a hidden gem just outside Seville, in Santiponce, where history seems to resonate in every stone. Founded by the Romans in 206 BC, it was the birthplace of emperors like Trajan and Hadrian.

As you stroll through its ancient streets, you'll come across well-preserved mosaics, the remains of grand houses, and an impressive amphitheatre that once held up to 25,000 spectators.

This ancient city was also the setting for the Dragon Pit, where the fight for the Iron Throne united against the White Walkers in Game of Thrones.

Snails as tapas in Seville are a real treat! 🐌

If you find yourself in this Andalusian gem, you must try them. Locally known as "caracoles," these tiny snails are cooked in a deliciously seasoned broth. The broth often has a blend of spices like cumin, garlic, and a touch of heat from chilli, making each bite full of flavour

You'll see Sevillanos enjoying them with toothpicks, accompanied by a cold beer or a glass of sherry. It's a popular dish in spring and early summer, and the best places to try them are the local bars, where the vibe is as good as the food 🍻

Give it a go – it's a true Sevillian experience! 🙌

If you’re ever in Seville, you’ve got to try the local orange wine. It’s made from a sweet wine base, and then they add wine alcohol macerated with bitter orange peels, giving it that special character unique to these wines 🍷

The flavour is one-of-a-kind, with a hint of bitterness and a touch of sweetness, a bit like marmalade. You’ll find it in many of the traditional tapas bars around the city, usually served chilled. Perfect for sipping as an aperitif or even as a dessert 🙌

You can enjoy this wine and Seville's cuisine on our Jewish Quarter tour with tasty tapas & drinks. We’re looking forward to seeing you! Book through the link in our bio

Currently, the procession includes between 3,500 and 4,000 people, mainly representing various brotherhoods and confraternities of the city
