Las Setas
Metropol Parasol, or more commonly known as ´Las Setas´ is an iconic architectural structure in the heart of Seville. ‘Las Setas’ translates to ´the mushrooms´ and with a little imagination you can see how the art piece earned its nickname. The 6 connected parasols stand almost rooted in the ground providing shade to the people admiring it from below.
This isn´t just any modern art piece. They´ve managed to fit the largest wooden structure on earth in the busy center of Sevilla. Right on Plaza de la Encarnación, which has turned into a cultural hub since the arrival of Las Setas in 2011. The square is filled and surrounded with restaurants, bars, shops and nightclubs. The square also hosts cultural events, concerts and local markets to add to the atmosphere.
Underneath Las Setas you will find the antiquarium, an archeological museum with Roman and Moorish remains discovered during the construction of Las Setas. From here visitors can take an elevator to the top of the structure to enjoy amazing views of Seville. This vantage point will allow you to spot other beautiful landmarks like the cathedral and La Giralda.

7 tapas you need to try in Sevilla!
Everyone loves tapas! And there´s definitely no shortage of good tapas bars in Seville. Keep some of these dishes in mind while ordering your next tapas😋
1. Salmorejo
This is a refreshing tomato soup that is enjoyed cold. It originates from nearby Córdoba and can be garnished with bits of boilled egg and Iberian ham.
2. Carrillada de cerdo
A very traditional dish where pork cheeks are slowly cooked in a red wine reduction sauce. This results in very flavorful meat that melts on your tongue.
3. Montadito de pringa
This is a sandwich filled with ´pringa´, which is the meat that remains after cooking a traditional stew. All of the meat is mixed and crushed and then put on some bread. Sevillians absolutely love this!
4. Espinacas con garbanzos
This spinach and chickpea dish is very telling of Seville´s cultural past. It uses some ingredients that are not originally from Spain but rather from the Middle East. The Spanish people were introduced to these when the Mores were in the country. This tapa came out of it and it stuck!
5. Solomillo al whisky
Delicious pork sirloin served with a whisky sauce. No one knows exactly where this sauce comes from but ever since it started appearing in Sevillian restaurants this tapa is a favorite among many.
6. Jamón Iberico
Of course this list is not complete without the iconic Iberico ham. This ham comes from a pig that is unique to Andalusia and feeds mainly on acorns, giving the meat its nutty flavor.
7. Pescado frito
Spanish people love fried fish! Especially in coastal cities like Cádiz this is a famous delicacy and it didn´t take long before it reached Seville. This is an especially popular food during Feria de Abril.
