Lanzarote urges the British Government to cancel its quarantine

Lanzarote has raised its voice to request a rectification from the British Government regarding its quarantine. In effect, the Cabildo, through Turismo de Lanzarote, has urged the British Government , through a press release released by the London communication agency Lotus addressed to the main media in the United Kingdom, to reconsider its decision and annul the requirement of quarantine for travelers from Lanzarote .

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, has indicated that the statement responds to a global and far-reaching strategy that aims to transfer to the main issuing countries the enormous effort made by Lanzarote. Due to this effort, the president maintains, "the health crisis has had a low incidence on our island, with extraordinarily favorable figures compared to the peninsula, which demonstrates the effectiveness with which the island's own protocol for detecting possible cases is working Covid-19, so far very few. **UPDATE** We are STILL opening on 10th August. Due to the knee jerk actions of the UK Government (who seem to change their minds like the wind with no scientific or common sense approach), we hope that by mid August the situation will be vastly different. Just for your information, we had a further 2 cases yesterday (Both identified and contained before reaching the society and a further 3 previously positive cases now testing negative. Currently there are 10 positive on our lovely island (7 of which are illegal immigrants who were captured before entering the general public). Here are the statistics for Lanzarote compared to the UK as we stand today.

The latest news on masks here in Lanzarote, now that holiday season is starting we would like to help all our guests stay informed and keep us all safe 😊

Heads up for those of you on the island currently. The police are having a campaign this weekend to ensure mask wearing rules are being adhered to. There is a €100 fine for anyone not complying.

The rules are pretty straightforward:

1/ Everyone 6 years and over should wear a mask in indoor public areas (shops for example,) and on public transport.

2/ You only need to wear a mask outdoors if you can't social distance to 1.5 metres - pretty rare here in Lanzarote.

3/ In bars and restaurants, you are not required to wear a mask while eating and drinking and once seated. If you cannot maintain a social distance of 1.5 metres when entering or leaving, or using the rest rooms, you should put your mask on.

So, make sure you always have one with you, stick to the rules, and if in doubt about whether you can keep 1.5 metres away from others, put it on, to be on the safe side.

You don't need to wear a mask out walking generally, on the beach, around the pool etc.

It's important that we all follow these rules, which will continue to keep Lanzarote one of the safest places on the planet from Coronavirus, and if we do, it will mean the mask rules won't be tightened here, as they have in other parts of Spain.

With this difficult time we are now dealing with I would like to thank all my clients for being so understanding, it is a knock on effect for us all,
On a positive note we will be here for you all after the storm and Lanzarote will be filled with the much needed sunshine full of the vitamins needed to recover 🌞 and also we will be a safe place to come because of the measures that have been taking so quickly here, we are already one week on lockdown and we have no rise, as of yet 🙏🏼 from the 3 confirmed cases,

Storm happening at the moment 😬

Another gusty day with a yellow weather alert for high winds and waves. Wind is around 45kph but could gust up to 80kph. Temperatures will see 23 for the high and 18 overnight and there will be sunny spells too. The wind should ease come tomorrow afternoon. Thanks to Lanzarote_official for today’s pic

As the skies clear and we wave goodbye to the low pressure system we will see a change towards warmer and more humid weather into the weekend today’s high will be 24 falling to 17 overnight but come Saturday and Sunday we will see 30 degrees as the tropical front arrives.
