Are you a cheese fan? Enjoy a vast array of delectable cheeses while visiting the Canary Islands.

We guarantee that some of the goat cheeses from Fuerteventura and Lanzarote will appeal to you, even if you're not typically a fan of goat cheese.

They are prepared differently on the islands:
💫 cheese board
💫 jam-topped fried cheese.
💫 grilled cheese with palm honey, etc.

Goats 🐐of the native "Majorero" specie are the most common livestock on Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It is a goat with long limbs, short hair, and a wide range of colors. Its traits fit the arid climate and volcanic terrain admirably, and it produces a lot of milk (4-6 L per day). Their diet, which consists mostly of locally cultivated grasses, cereals, and natural flora, produces milk of the highest caliber.

The following cheese types are the most representative:

🧀 fresh cheese, which is extremely soft and flavorful.
🧀 the more flavorful semi-cured cheese, which is specifically covered in paprika, gofio (toasted flour), or even smoked
🧀 the strongest-tasting cured cheese, particularly when dusted with paprika or gofio (toasted flour).

El Faro in Lanzarote and Maxorata in Fuerteventura are the largest cheese factories, respectively.

Still, some of the cheese producers are open for visits and the majority are artisanal ones.
