Villa Mexicana

Some new hiking routes have been formalized and marked recently around our area of Andalucia, with the idea of giving a boost to rural tourism.
One I mentioned in a previous post here (Salares/Canillas de Acetuno) with the suspension bridge is about 25mins from us by car and is for the more experienced. Here I am posting a few photos of a new route we tried the other day which we really liked and would be suitable for families. The path follows suspended walkways past ancient mills, a surviving roman road and crosses the river at various places. The 4km walk takes you from the village of Archez through another village of Canillas de Albaida and then back to Archez again. This is a circular route, the start of which (at Archez) is about 20 mins from the villa.
The route is called "La Ruta de los Molinos, Río Turvilla SL-A 277 (Canillas de Albaida - Árchez, Málaga)"

For any keen hikers that may visit our villa this is a new route, between Sedella Pueblo and Canillas de Acetuno. Described as moderatly dificult, is not for the squeamish.
Very scenic. Part of the track is a near vertical decent to the new suspention bridge and then up again the other side.
About 8km between the towns if you do the whole route. The start and end towns are both about 30mins drive from the villa.

So it appears that the summer solstice aligns perfectly, by accident, with our "mission bell" folly.
Only just noticed that this happens. We were at the villa for the solstice for the first time ever this year (due to a COVID cancellation, as we normally have guests).

Evening walk, seafood dinner, then illuminated cool evening walk back. Recommended- Acantilados Cala del Moral.

Discovered this neat little clifftop walk at Cala Del Moral (about 20 mins from Villa Mexicana along the coast) back towards Malaga. Mixture of cuttings and tunnels from a now long lost Franco era railway. Nice seafood beach restaurants at either end of the walk... (share,like,enjoy etc)

Torrox Pueblo main square looking pretty with its colorful and practical umbrella shades. Torrox which for years was overshadowed by its two more glamorous sisters, Frigiliana and Competa, now seems to have found its own personality and confidence. Well done.

Sofi (on the right) and friends at last years carnival. The poster is the poster for the 2017 carnival. Esther is chuffed as she made the outfits..Carnival here in Nerja is one of the bigger of the 12 monthly fiestas with a three hour procession through the streets of dressed up groups and clubs etc..
