LOPESAN MICE: A SUSTAINABLE HOTEL MODEL IN GRAN CANARIA

​​Did you know that has the highest gold certification in sustainability, awarded by the prestigious international organization Travelife?

​Sustainability is part of the DNA and of that differential value that characterizes Lopesan MICE, a company born in the Canary Islands and highlighted as a leader in the tourism industry in that destination and in Spain. For the Lopesan MICE group, the principle of sustainability consists of a journey that seeks the development of a business model that respects the environment, the generation of value and the care of people.

As a sign of this commitment, the company launched, in 2022, a new ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Strategic Plan, aimed at making sustainability a competitive advantage. This is a roadmap that establishes medium and long-term goals, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), defined by the United Nations.

Lopesan MICE has obtained the highest gold certification for accommodation sustainability, awarded by the prestigious global organization, Travelife, which demonstrates the sustained work they have been doing towards the development and well-being of present and future generations.

The environmental strategic pillar is one of the most important for Lopesan MICE. In 2022, the business group achieved 100% of the electricity consumed by its hotels to achieve certification of energy of renewable origin (GdO), which resulted in savings of 12,309 tons of CO2, equivalent to 492,378 trees planted. What an Ibtm this year! 🚀

Finally we are back to normal numbers and I had the feeling it was one of the best shows since many years. We had a total of 36 productive meetings: 7 with Scandinavian event planners and our DMC partner maximice events group, 26 hotels, 3 Convention Bureaus.

Tuesday evening we helped MeetEngland with their event at Hotel Neri, where 13 suppliers from England could present their destinations and services to a total of 15 event agencies from Scandianvia, Germany and Spain.

And last but not least on Wednesday was the highlight of our Ibtm. We organized a Networking dinner at Casa Bonay with a total of 33 event professionals: 10 hotels, 7 event planners from Scandinavia and 11 MICE agencies from Germany having a great time and doing business in a cozy atmosphere.

I can't believe we did all this in just 48 hours 😅

But the year is not over yet and we are excited to sign some new collaborations before Christmas and continue promoting our clients from Spain in the Scandinavian MICE market.

New MAXinterview, this time with Casa Bonay Barcelona 🎙️​

Here we are with another MAXinterview. This time with Natasha Thorne, who is Sales Director at Casa Bonay in Barcelona. This hotel is inspired by the idea of creating a space that enriches, inspires, and blurs the boundaries between home and hotel. With 67 rooms and a number of spaces including rooftops, live event space, cocktail bar, Bodega & coffee shop, Casa Bonay create a comfortable environment for locals and travellers alike.

In September 2020 we signed a 3 year contract with the Spanish DMC maximice events group and promote their services in the Scandinavian MICE market.

Maximice events group is a leading Spanish DMC that reflects a perfect combination of German engineering with Spanish passion. Doing better is better than doing more! 🌿​

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic islands, where nature and humans live in peace. On the other hand, the capital of the island is a city with medieval Gothic buildings and bright and chic nightlife. The impact of tourism on the destination is carefully analyzed in Mallorca, adapting and supervising the new systems that have to be designed.

And now only 4 months are left until the end of 2022 and in my opinion there are no predictions anymore. We now have to go day by day. I guess, now more than ever, we have to show that WE ARE ONE.

We are back today with a new MAXinterview 🎙️​

As most of you already know MAX Tourism started a collaboration with Barceló La Nucía in May in 2022. This brand new hotel is located in Costa Blanca and opened in summer 2021. We met with their Sales Manager Kimberley Anne Berryman and talked with her about this beatiful hotel, which offers 242 bed rooms and 5 meeting rooms divided in 2 enchanting buildings and located 45 minutes from Alicante Airport.

The resort provides an ideal location between the beach and the stunning nature, which allows many visitors to enjoy many activities. Any time of the year is a perfect choice for staying and experiencing Barceló La Nucía, thanks to its magnificent facilities, mild temperatures and exciting surroundings.

Check our latest article in our MAXblog about Casa Bonay in Barcelona. It opened 2016 in a notable 19th century structure and was designed by Barcelona's natives.

The old building, from which Casa Bonay has been renovated, was the Bonay family's 19th century mansion, where the hotel owners put the goal of preserving the property’s stunning original characteristics, while creating a vibrant, creative place to meet for neighbors and visitors.

We are honored to be working with such a special hotel and are looking forward to our first norwegian Incentive Group together with our DMC partner maximice events group end of September.

Casa Bonay was designed by Barcelona’s natives and opened in 2016. It is housed in a 19th-century structure, only 5 minutes away from the city center.

We are on a roll!

Today we will start a new cooperation with a beautiful lifestyle hotel in Barcelona called Casa Bonay. This hotel reinvents traditional hospitality to redefine the way people live and travel and believe in the importance of connecting body and soul.

We love Casa Bonay because they have revitalised the traditional hotel concept by creating spaces centred around sustainable and simple design, where quality, attention to detail, and cultural programming are key aspects.

Post about our new MAXdestionation Gran Canaria 🌴​

As you already know we organized a Fam Trip in this paradise beginning of February in collaboration with our DMC partner in Spain maximice events group and their local partner in the Canary Islands inSuite.

The event planners loved it, the weather was warm with 21º, while in their home country it was snowing with under cero degrees. We could do so many nice outdoor activities and now we would like to share this article with more details about Gran Canaria (my mothers island).

Last but not least, we just confirmed 2 groups in Gran Canaria with the DMC inSuite that are a result from our Fam Trip with 2 of their participants. So happy about it!

Now we are on the hunt of some good MICE hotels on the island that we can promote actively in the nordic countries and we are going to visit some hotels in Gran Canaria and Tenerife in July 😎

Gran Canaria is an island known for its volcanic origin and its wonderful landscapes of sea and mountainous terrain, offering a wide variety of activities.

Today we will meet with our local partner on the Canary Islands called inSuite and will have a conversation with Mauricio Aleman Burgmayer, who lives in Gran Canaria and is Managing Partner since year 2010.

New partnership: MAX Tourism 💜​ Mon Port & Es Princep Mallorca!

In November last year I started talking with Joni Ferrer from Mon Hotels in Mallorca and I had that feeling that if we don't meet in person, we will not work together, as this business is based on trust and personal relations.

Therefore end of April I decided to take a plane and meet Joni Ferrer Espino. I stayed at Es Princep, which is located just in the heart of Palma and visited Hotel Mon Port in Andratx, which has a beautiful garden and has that peaceful vibe. This is just the beginning of our new partnership and I am very happy to let you know more about it very soon.

Brand new resort in Costa Blanca for MICE groups!

Recently we started a collaboration with Barceló La Nucía, which inaugurated in June 2021 and is composed by 2 enchanting buildings located 45 minutes from Alicante Airport and 10 minutes by car from Poniente Beach.

Next week I will be travelling to Stockholm with Kimberley Anne Berryman, who is the Sales Manager and fell in love with the destination years ago. So excited to visit the city again after 2 and a half years and talk to the Swedish event planners and see their reaction to this stunning MICE hotel.

When I visited for the first time end of August I knew that I wanted to represent this resort composed of 2 buildings next to each other called Barceló La Nucía Hills and Barceló La Nucía Palms. 242 rooms in total, 5 meeting spaces with natural day light, a lot of open aire spaces surrounded by palm trees and a rooftop bar makes this place really unique. Today we want to share with you an extract from our MAXinterview with Juan Miguel Caldentey, who is partner at our DMC client maximice events group.

This is what he thinks about Scandinavian efficiency:

"Maximice events group operates 160 projects per year and 10% are from Scandinavia. With our Scandinavian clients we exchange only 20% of the e-mails that we usually have with clients from other markets. If a regular client needs 200 written e-mails for one project, with the nordics we operate a group with only 40 e-mails. They are clear, fast, direct, polite and have a lot of respect".
