Mojácar will shine like never before this Christmas: the town wins the Ferrero Rocher contest
The Levantine town of Mojácar (Almería) has become the winner of the ninth edition of Together we shine brighter, the initiative of the Ferrero Rocher chocolate firm that aims to provide a town in Spain with dreamy Christmas lighting that will remain permanently and that will attract thousands of tourists from all over Spain throughout Christmas.
This has been confirmed by the mayor of Santillana del Mar, Ángel Rodríguez Uzquiza, to Cadena Feeling Cantabria, a station in Valle de Toranzo, the cradle of sobao pasiego. Santillana del Mar (Cantabria) together with Aínsa, in Huesca, and Mojácar are the three finalists of this edition.
The confirmation by Rodríguez also contrasts with the dissemination on social networks and Whatsapp of a screenshot from the Ferrero Rocher website where Mojácar is congratulated for winning this contest: "Your votes and the help of Peñíscola have made this beautiful town in Almeria as the winner of this edition of Juntos Brillamos Más. Therefore, in a few days it will shine like never before and you will be able to share an unforgettable Christmas", reads the letter.
An announcement that thus reveals the surprise since the gala in which the name of the winning town will be officially known will take place tonight and will be broadcast live on Telecinco in "prime time" starting at 10:00 p.m. hours during one of the advertising breaks according to Ferrero Rocher sources consulted by this newspaper. The winners will also be published on the contest website https://pueblos.ferrerorocher.es/. In fact, on the aforementioned website you can no longer vote for any of the three towns and it is reported that the winner will be announced tonight.
Mojácar municipal sources have not wanted to assess this information provided by the mayor of Santillana del Mar and prefer to be "prudent" until the official announcement is held tonight.
ambassadors
Since Jesús Vázquez announced the inclusion of the Mojaquero municipality, there have been many personalities, business institutions and neighbors who have wanted to show their support for the town and ask for the vote so that this Christmas looks like never before.
One of the province's ambassadors, David Bisbal, was one of the first familiar faces to ask that Mojácar be illuminated by Ferrero. He did it shortly after the candidacy of the same was known and a few days ago in the moments before his concert in Almería on the occasion of his 20 years on stage. There he was, precisely, with the mayoress of Mojácar, Rosa María Cano, and in another small video on Power Horse he once again asked for the vote for the Mojaquera candidacy.
But not only the most international singer from Almería has joined this initiative. Other familiar faces such as the communicator Carlos Herrera, current director of Herrera at COPE, the journalist Isabel Jiménez and her partner David Cantero, presenters of Informativos, have also sent their message of support to the town in eastern Almeria. Sheila Torres, creator of es.decirdiario, has also joined this support campaign through her Social Networks so that Mojácar shines like never before this year.
From the world of music, in addition to the aforementioned Bisbal, other artists such as the singer Fran Ocaña, the musician-composer Jorge Pardo, Josemi Carmona, from the Ketama group, and the artist Miguel Campello have also joined this support campaign accompanying each message of the art that characterizes each one.
Other well-known faces such as the chef from Almería Juan Manuel, winner of Masterchef, or the actress Luisa Martín have also requested that Mojácar be the town that Ferrero Rocher fills with lights this year.
The trade unionist Cándido Méndez, the fashion designer from Almería Sergi Real or the junior kitesurfing world champion, the Mojaquera Osaïa Reding, are other familiar faces who have positioned themselves with Mojácar.
The former soccer player and model Jaime Astraín and the actor from Almeria Jaime Ribas, who currently participates in the well-known series 'La que se Avecina', have also wanted to send their support.
ferrero challenge
The Mojácar City Council has turned to winning this contest and managed last Sunday, December 4, to gather thousands of people on the Mojácar promenade, in the area of Playa Lance Nuevo in front of Pueblo Indalo, to overcome the Challenge Ferrero consisting of concentrating the largest number of people taking a Ferrero Rocher chocolate at a time. According to municipal sources consulted by Diario de Almería, more than 3,000 chocolates were distributed among all attendees. "It is being an unprecedented success in Mojácar", point out the same sources that explain that "we have never seen so many people wanting to support an event in the town".
