Magic of ballooning in Ethiopia

Our mother company Sky Ballonvaarten was founded in 1984 by the passionate aviation man Henny Van Loosbroek. what started as a hobby grew out to be a commercial hot air balloon company with 9 sponsored balloons in 2017. currently Sky Ballonavaarten is managed by Henny’s sons Bram and Daan van Loosbroek who a both experience balloon pilots with over 22 years experience. In 2012 Bram van Loosbroek and Adika Tour and Travel founded Abyssinia Ballooning.

NOW Abyssinia Ballooning operates 2 hot air balloons in Ethiopia since 2012. We make recreational scenic sunrise balloon flights mostly over the Menegesha Forest (20 KM West of Addis) and we made 25 sunrise balloon flights over Addis Ababa itself. Also we made flights over places like Awash Notional park, Ziway, Langano, Lalibela and a new flight to start on 16th of march around the stunning Gheralta Rocks.

We work closely together with Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority to ensure safe ballooning operations. We aim to add value to the recreational sector of Ethiopia. We are huge promoters of this wonderful country that we love.
