Wakacyjne wizyty, jeśli zastanawiasz się, co robić w Warszawie, Polska: W zbiorach warszawskiego Muzeum Narodowego znajduje się interesująca kolekcja etiopskich zabytków. Pochodzą od dwóch darczyńców: Wojciecha Korablewicza , pracującego w Etiopii polskiego lekarza, autora interesującej książki „Słońce na Ambach” i profesora Stanisława Chojnackiego, założyciela i wieloletniego kustosza mieszczącego się na terenie Uniwersytetu w Addis Abebie Muzeum Etnograficznego ( W etiopskim muzeum znajduje się poświęcona profesorowi tablica pamiątkowa).

Kolekcja składa się w przeważającej części z charakterystycznych dla Etiopii krzyży. Głęboki kult Krzyża Świętego przeniknął do Etiopii z tradycji wschodniochrześcijańskiej. Nie jest on wyłącznie symbolem śmierci Zbawiciela ale poprzez Zmartwychwstanie symbolem odkupienia ludzkości.
Metalowe i drewniane krzyże zachwycają różnorodnością i bogactwem kształtów. Dzieli się je zazwyczaj na trzy grupy: procesyjne, ręczne i osobiste do zawieszania na szyi.
Piękna Ikona Matki Boskiej Salus Populi Romani („Zbawienie Ludu Rzymskiego”) jest świadectwem niezmiernie rozpowszechnionego wśród etiopskich chrześcijan kultu maryjnego. Pierwowzorem dla niej był obraz przechowywany w rzymskim kościele Santa Maria Maggiore.

By trafić do sali z etiopskim zbiorem trzeba po wejściu do muzeum skierować się w lewo, tam gdzie znajduje się kolekcja fresków z Faras.
