EPHA Conducts Its Performance Review Meeting.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) Conducts Its Nine Months Performance Review Meeting on 12 November 2024 at Ras Amba Hotel, Addis Ababa.

The objective of this performance review meeting is to evaluate the performance of projects and programs over the past nine months from 1st January to 30th September 2024 typically against the goals and strategies of EPHA.

After welcoming speech made by EPHA Executive Director Dr. Alemayehu Mekonnen, The Planning, Programming, Monitoring and Evaluation expert of EPHA, Mrs. Amsale Ayele presented all the activities of the directorates performed during the specific period.

On the assessment of performance the directorets reviewed the achievements, strengths, challenges and areas for improvement based on performance metrics.

Following a thorough discussion and providing constructive feedback, targets are identified for performance improvement plan in the upcoming review period to ensuring and align with overall strategies and mission of the association.

Call for Membership Registration

Established in 1989, the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) has been
working strongly for the last 35 years with the aim to promote better health services for the public and uphold professional standards through advocacy, active involvement and networking.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is a not-for-profit, voluntary,
multidisciplinary association of professionals. Its members are of varying categories and levels of training and occupy positions at different levels in private, government and non-government organizations. The association works closely with local and international partners to facilitate and accelerate activities on the country’s priority public health issues.

Membership types for Individuals and Institutions:
 Regular membership (for health professionals),
 Associate membership (for not-health professionals),
 Honorary membership (for individuals who made outstanding contributions to
the community) and
 Lifetime membership.
NB: Anyone who is interested at least with a first degree can be a member of the association

Experience Sharing Visit Focused on Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Today 25 Sep. 2024, professionals from EPHA visited Dr. William Felton Ross training center of Alert CSH for an enriching experience sharing session focused on Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

The objective of the visit was to exchange knowledge, to identity challenges and to strengthening networking between professionals to foster ongoing collaboration.

Besides, this collaborative initiative helps to exchange best practices, innovative strategies, and effective frameworks for enhancing professional skills in our respective fields.

Ms. Martha Fekadu CPD Director of the center facilitate an open discussion about successful CPD programs implemented by the center and provided an overview of their CPD programs, guidelines, emphasizing goals, structure and outcomes.

The visit concluded with an agreement to schedule follow-up meetings and potentially create joint CPD initiatives.

የአባላችን የፕሮፌሰር በየነ ጴጥሮስ የቀብር ስነ ስርዓት ዛሬ መስከረም 9 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም. ይፈጸማል።

ከጠዋቱ 3 ሰዓት ጀምሮ ሳሪስ አደይ አበባ ከሚገኘው የመኖሪያ ቤታቸው ወደ ሚሊኒየም አዳራሽ አሸኛኘት ይደረጋል።

ከአራት ሰዓት ጀምሮ በሚሊኒየም አዳራሽ የተለያዩ ስነስርዓቶች ይካሄዳሉ።

የቀብር ስርዓታቸው ከቀኑ 8 ሰዓት በአዲስ አበባ ብርሐናተ ዓለም ጴጥሮስ ወጳውሎስ መካነ መቃብር ይፈጸማል።

እንኳን አደረሳችሁ!

በአገሪቱ የጤና አጠባበቅ ረገድ ጉልህ ሚና ያለው የኢትዮጵያ ጤና አጠባበቅ ማኅበር ከተመሰረተ ከ35 አመት በላይ ሆኖታል።

ማኅበሩ 10,000 የሚጠጉ በልዩ ልዩ ዘርፍ የተሰማሩ አንጋፋና ወጣት አባላትን አቅፎ የያዘ ሲሆን ከመንግስታዊም ሆነ መንግስታዊ ካልሆኑ ድርጅቶች ጋር በቅርበት ይሰራል።

የተሻለ የጤና አገልግሎትን ለህብረተሰቡ ተደራሽ ለማድረግ ማኅበሩ የሙያና ስነምግባር ክህሎትን ለማሳደግ የሚረዳ ተከታታይ የሙያ ማሻሻያ ስልጠና (CPD) ይሰጣል።

በከፍተኛ የትምህርት ተቋማትና በሌሎች የአገልግሎት ሰጪ ድርጅቶች ለሚሰሩ አባላቱ በጥናትና ምርምር የላቀ ተሳትፎ እንዲኖራቸው የሚያስችል ተቋማዊ የጥናትና ምርምር ግምገማ ቦርድ (IRB) ያለው በመሆኑ ለበርካታ ድርጅቶችና ግለሰቦች አገልግሎት በመስጠት ላይ ያለ ሲሆን በዚህም እውቅናን አግኝቷል።

የጤና አገልግሎት ጥራት ከማኅበሩ እሴቶች መካከል አንዱና ዋነኛው ከመሆኑ ጋር ተያይዞ ልዩ ልዩ የምርምር ማእከላትን የያዘ ባለ 7 ወለል ህንጻ በማስገንባት ማኅበሩ ለትውልድ የሚተላለፍ አሻራ አስቀምጧል።

በተጨማሪም ዘመናዊ ቤተ መጽሐፍትና ማተሚያ ቤት ያለው በመሆኑ አባላቱንና አጋር ድርጅቶችን በትጋት በማገልገል ላይ ይገኛል።

የኢትዮጵያ ጤና አጠባበቅ ማኅበር የዓለም የጤና ኮንግረስን ጨምሮ ታላላቅ ሳይንሳዊ ኮንፍረንሶችን በማስተባበር በአገራችን ተጠቃሽ ሚና ካላቸው ማኅበራት ተርታ ከፊት የሚሰለፍ ነው። እንዲሁም በየአመቱ በርካታ የጥናት ውጤቶችን በአመታዊ ጉባኤው ከማቅረብ በዘለለ፤ ወቅታዊ የጤና መረጃዎችን በማሳተምና በማሰራጨት ለማኅበረሰቡ ተደራሽ ያደርጋል።

የኢትዮጵያ ጤና አጠባበቅ ማኅበር በአገሪቱ ማንኛውም አይነት የጤና ችግር በተከሰተ ጊዜ በፈጥኖ ደራሽነቱ የተመሰከረለት ማኅበር ነው።

በአዲሱ አመት የዚህ ማኅበር አባል እንዲሆኑ የአክብሮት ጥሪ እናቀርባለን።

በኢትዮጵያ የአጥንትና መገጣጠሚያ ጉዳት ደርሶባቸው 'በባህል ህክምና ታክመዋል' ከተባሉት ታማሚዎች ዉስጥ 77 በመቶዎቹ የጎንዮሽ ጉዳት እንደገጠማቸው አዲስ አገራዊ ጥናት አመለከተ።

ጥናቱ የተሰራው በኢትዮጵያ አጥንት እና መገጣጠሚያ ሃኪሞች ማህበር (ESOT) ባደራጀው "Bone Setting Associated Disability (BOSAD)” በተባለ አገር አቀፍ የጥናት እና ምርምር ቡድን ሲሆን ጥናቱ 1 አመት ከግማሽ ያህል ጊዜ ወስዷል።

ጥናቱ በሃገራችን ከሚከሰቱ የአጥንትና መገጣጠሚያ ጉዳቶች ጋር በተያያዘ በማህበረሰቡ እንደ አንድ የህከምና አማራጭ ከሚወሰደው የባህል ህክምና ጋር ተያይዞ የሚመጡ የጤና ችግሮች ላይ እንደሚያተኩር የማህበሩ ዋና ፀሐፊ እና የጥናቱ አስተባባሪ ዶ/ር መንግስቱ ገብረዮሃንስ ተናግረዋል።

ጥናቱ አይነታዊ (Qualitative) እና አሀዛዊ (Quantitative) ዘዴዎችን ተጠቅሟል። ከዚህ በተጨማሪም ማህበረሰብ አቀፍ (community based study) መረጃዎችንም በማካተት የተሰራ ነው።

በዚህ ጥናት በጤና ተቋማት ከ783 አዋቂ እና ከ460 ህጻናት ታካሚዎች፤ እንዲሁም በማህበረሰብ አቀፍ ደግሞ ከ860 ታካሚዎች መረጃ ተሰብስቧል። መረጃው በ6 ክልሎች ከሚገኙ 8 የዩኒቨርሲቲ ሆስፒታሎች የተሰበሰበ ሲሆን እነዚህም ሃዋሳ፣ ባህርዳር፣ ጎንደር፣ ጂማ፣ ዋቻሞ፣ ሀሮማያ፣ አሰላ፣ እና ጂግጂጋ ናቸው።

በጥናቱ እንደተመለከተው ታካሚዎቹ 'በባህላዊ ህክምና ታክመዋል' ከተባሉ በኋላ ወደ ጤና ተቋም ሲመጡ 77 በመቶ የሚሆኑት ለጎንዮሽ ጉዳት የተጋለጡ ሲሆን 6.6% የሚሆኑት ለከፋ ጉዳት ተዳርገዋል።

26.7 በመቶ የሚሆኑት ደግሞ በመጀመሪያ ወደ ጤና ተቋም መጥተው በቂ የህክምና እርዳታ አላገኘንም በማለት ተመልሰው ወደ ባህል ህክምና የሄዱ ሲሆን እንደገና ተመልሰው ወደ ህክምና ተቋም የመጡ መሆናቸውን አስተባባሪው ተናግረዋል።

11 ሰዎች እግራቸው ወይም እጃቸዉ ጠብቆ በመታሰሩ ምክንያት ስለበሰበሰ ህይወታቸውን ለመታደግ ሲባል በቀዶ ጥገና እንደተቆረጠ ያመለከተው ይህ ጥናት 3 ሰዎች ደግሞ በቴታነስ እና ታክሞ መዳን በማይችል ኢንፌክሽን ምክንያት እንደሞቱ ተመላክቷል።

ህፃናት በባህላዊ መንገድ ከታከሙ በኋላ ወደ ጤና ተቋማት የሚመጡት ዘይግተው እንደሆነ ያመለከተው ጥናቱ ቋሚ ጉዳት ከደረሰባቸው በኋላ በአማካይ ከ113 ቀናት በኋላ ወደ ጤና ተቋም እንደሚመጡ ጥናቱ አሳይቷል።

የህፃናቱ የአደጋ መንስኤ መውደቅ ሲሆን 76.5 በመቶ የሚሆኑት በትምህርት ቤት እንዲሁም በገጠር አካባቢ ከዛፍ ላይ እንደሚወድቁ በጥናቱ ታይቷል።

ከግማሽ በላይ የሚሆኑት ህፃናት የመገጣጠሚያ ችግር የገጠማቸው ሲሆን 26 የሚሆኑት ህፃናት ደግሞ ህይወታቸውን ለማዳን ሲባል የሰውነት አካላቸው እንደተቆረጠ ለማወቅ ተችሏል።

ጥናቱ በሚደረግበት ጊዜ በሀገሪቱ ተከስቶ ከነበረዉ ግጭት ጋር ተያይዞ የትግራይ ክልል በዚህ ጥናት ያልተካተተ ሲሆን ሁለቱ የከተማ መስተዳደሮች (አዲስ አባባ እና ድሬድዋ) በበጀት እጥረት ምክንያት እንዳልተካተቱ ዶ/ር መንግስቱ አብራርተዋል። በ 'Qualitative' ጥናቱ አዲስ አባባን በማካተት ክፍተት እንዳይኖር የተቻለዉን ጥረት ሁሉ መደረጉንም አብራርተዋል።

አንድ ጥናት የሀገሪቱን 60 በመቶ በላይ የሚሆነውን ተደራሽ ማድረግ ከቻለ እንደ አገራዊ ጥናት መውሰድ ይቻላል ያሉት አስተባባሪው ጥናቱ ታካሚዎች ከመጡበት ቀን ጀምሮ ወደፊት በመከታተል የተሰራ (Prospective) መሆኑ እስካሁን ከተሰሩ ጥናቶች የተለየ እንደሚያደርገው ገልጸዋል።

EPHA signs MOU with WGH - Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) and Women in Global Health - Ethiopia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today 05 September 2024, to establish a collaborative partnership between two parties.

The primary purpose of this MOU is to advance women's leadership and promote gender equality within the Ethiopian health sector together.

According to the MOU EPHA will serve as the fiscal sponsor for WGH - Ethiopia in providing administrative support and access to institutional resources, enabling effective implementation and management of WGH Ethiopia's project activities.

The MOU shall be effective for 2 years with possible extension upon mutual agreement of both two parties.

EPHA signs MOU with BOSAD.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) and Bone Setting Associated Disability (BOSAD) project team have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today 28 August 2024, to partner on collaboration on trauma/injuries prevention and awareness creation regarding bone setting associated complications.

The main objective of the MOU is to work together in cooperative and coordinated manner to achieve individual and common goal of the partnership.

According to the MOU each party shall use their greatest effort to compile all the relevant information, data and resources required for the development of the initiative.
