We have changed our company name and logo from (Omo Valley Origin Tours) to (Omo Region Tours) by using ring as widely known in the Omo region. Rings carry deep cultural meanings across the globe, serving as potent symbols of love, commitment, heritage, and identity.

The new logo the first “O” letter in ring helical shape represents the river of “Omo” that lies along in the Omo region; and the color of the letters in light brown represents the skin color of the Omo people As well as the color of the Omo river; the Omo river is almost close to dark red brown color.

As widely known the Omo region is a cultural melting pot with at least 16 distinct tribes; and the people are symbol of Coexist harmoniously, Solidarity and peace, So we intended the ring sin helical shape and the colour we used for the logo design it explains very well about the Omo region.

Heavy necklaces and long skirts from goat skins, which are richly decorated, are characteristic for the women. Necklaces were traditionally made from dry seeds, but these days they have been largely replaced with colourful glass beads coming from Kenya. The women also decorate themselves with ornamental scarification on their faces, chests, and bellies.

A glowing beauty of a young dassanch tribe girl.

The Dassanech tribes, like the neighboring tribes of the Omo Valley, have a deep-rooted tradition of pastoralism. They rely on livestock, particularly cattle, for their sustenance. Their staple food is a porridge made from corn or sorghum. Additionally, they relish crocodile meat and eggs, as well as fish. Among members of the Dassanech clan, donkey meat is considered a delicacy reserved for esteemed guests at wedding celebrations.

As with the other tribes, they have a stylish way of dressing that is very elaborate. They too, wear goatskin skirts; theirs are longer in the back than in the front, and the back tappers down in a way that is often described as resembling the tail of a gazelle.

,OMO VALLY🇪🇹

What most characterizes the kara tribe is their care and attention to physical appearance, their body painting and scarification techniques are elaborated and are still practiced today.

On the occasion of the ceremonies the kara paint their bodies using the white color, obtained from the plaster, the yellow, coming from a local mineral, and the red, obtained from the earth rich in iron.

The designs range from simple dots to complicated weaves of lines and circles; both the face and the body are painted, both men and women paint their bodies.

The Arbore, also known as Erbore or Ulde, are an ethnic group living in Southern Ethiopia, near Lake Chew Bahir, in the South-Western region of the Omo Valley.

The Arbore live in warm and flat areas
and are mainly livestock farmers; as most other tribes in the Omo Valley, livestock is main source of livelihood and is a status symbol, wealth is measured by the number of cattle owned by a member of the tribe.
The importance of cattle is also evident from the name of population, that litralley means ", "Ar" means "bull" and "bore" means "land".

Adorable kara woman with guinea fowl feather and facial painting.

The kara people best known for the elaborate body painting they indulge in before important ceremonies. They paint their faces and bodieswith white chalk to prepare for a ceremony.

The chalk is mixed with yellow rock, red iron ore and charoal to make its color. Face masks are worn at times and they have clay hair buns with feathers in them. Red clay mixed with butter is put into their hair and clothing is made from animal skin. The women scar their chest believing it makes them beautiful.

Rare glimpse of a Hamar bride as she steps out for a brief moment from the house in which she has been confined during a three-month waiting period. A mixture of fresh cow butterfat, ground red ochre and tree resin is rubbed over the bride's entire body during this period. Hamar girls tend to marry at about seventeen. The bridewealth or payment made by the husband’s family to the bride's family generally consists of goats, cattle and guns. Forty-five cows were included in this particular arrangement.

SEVERAL FEASTS ARE TAKING PLACE DOWN IN THE OMO VALLEY, CEREMONIES THAT WILL LET YOU WITNESS THE VERY FAR TRADITIONS THROUGH THE PASSAGE OF TIME, COME AND FILL YOUR GAPS ABOUT HUMAN KINDS DIFFERENT LIFE STYLE ON EARTH, CHEERS CHEERS.

MURSI AND SURI’S DUELLING(ART Stick fighting)

Ceremonial dueling (thagine) is a form of ritualized male violence, or 'martial art', in which men from different locally based divisions of the population join in brief but furious single combat, using wooden poles and wearing stylized protective clothing. It is a key marker of Mursi identity and a highly valued and popular activity of young men who, amongst other things, are keen to prove themselves to unmarried girls.

The duelling weapon is a wooden pole (donga, pl. dongen), around two meters long which is cut from one of two species of tree of the genus Grewia (kalochi). In the attacking position the donga is gripped at its base with both hands, the left above the right, the aim being to land a blow with the shaft (never with the point) on any part of the opponents body, including the head, with sufficient force to knock him over.
Blows are parried by continuing to grip the base of the donga with the right hand, while sliding the left hand up the shaft to a point above that at which the blow is received. Each contestant wears a duelling 'kit' (tumoga) which is both protective and decorative. It includes a basket-work hand guard for the right hand, shin guards made from animal skin, rings of plaited sisal cord to protect the elbows and knees, a leopard skin over the front of the torso, a hide skirt, cut into strips, and a cattle bell tied round the waist. The head is protected by wrapping round it long swathes of cotton cloth. Bouts are controlled by one or more referees (kwethana, sing. kwethani).

For a bout to end in the victory of one of the contestants his opponent must either fall to the ground or retire hurt (commonly because of broken or bruised fingers). In the first case, though not in the second, the victor is carried round the field on the shoulders of his local age mates and then surrounded by unmarried girls of his mother's clan, his girl mothers(dole juge).
