On the way to the Bilbala Qirqos church you have the opportunity to explore highland parts of Ethiopia
The interior is extremely rich , both in architecture and decoration. Capitals, corbels and arches are finely sculpted and painted with geometrical patterns.
Paintings in light colours decorate all the wall , mostly with figures of Archangels, saints and animals
This is also the oldest rock church in Ethiopia still active , it was built 5th century
