Part of the proceeds from the Haff 2017 this year will be supporting an Apu Paku ry production under the Haff 10- 1 (2018).

In 2013, Shalin launched SkillsFAST (Skills for Appropriate, Sustainable Technology http://shalinry.org/projects/skillsfast-east-africa/) in Vocational Schools in 3 different countries - Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The SkillsFAST model is revolutionary. It transforms vocational education by modernizing the teaching methods (students take online classes and ICT is integrated in all the courses) and content that is relevant to the growing industries in Africa - Agribusiness and Renewable Energy Technology. We would like to extend this successful model to other African countries and transform vocational education everywhere. With the African Union, we can do that! One project on Biogas that did not go very well. The idea was simple. The kids in this school were required to bring firewood to school everyday which was used to make lunch for them. The environment was heavily degraded and it was getting harder to collect firewood. Since every home has at least a cow or two in this region, we thought the solution would be to have the kids bring dung to school instead of firewood. The dung would be used in the biogas digester for cooking. Well things started off ok.. but then what do you think happened next? http://shalinry.org/projects/skills-in-renewable-energy/
