In Jakobstad hiking is for everyone! On the nature trails of the island of Mässkär you get a glimpse of the outer archipelago. During summer, you can easily reach Mässkär by a regular boat connection from Gamla Hamn. The beautiful area of Fäboda offers several alternatives from child-friendly 2-3-kilometer paths to the more demanding 30-kilometer hiking trail. The accessible nature trail in Fäboda gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the sea and the cliffs.

VEGA, JACOBSTADS WAPEN AND THE OLD HARBOUR. The Old harbour with the small beach of Kittholmen, a jogging path running through a spruce forest, a small boat marina and some traditional red-painted boat houses make up a popular recreational area fit for a morning run or a leisurely stroll in the evening. Make sure to check out the war indemnity schooner Vega and the galeas Jacobstads Wapen at the shipyard.

In the archipelago town of Larsmo you’re never far from the sea. There are no less than nine beaches - one for each 580 inhabitants! The little island of Köpmanholmen can be reached by water taxi or rowing boat during the opening hours of the café. Or why not take a refreshing swim in the shallow waters of the little Assarskär beach before heading for a meal at the nearby restaurant Strandis.
