In Lapland
The biggest cities in Lapland are Rovaniemi, Tornio, and Kemi. Lapland has a very rich nature and it is easy to go there as it is so close. We have four different seasons; winter, spring, summer and fall. It is very remarkable in Lapland. Temperatures change during the year from -35c to +30c. ng the winter there is a lot of snow. Tornio is located in the border of Sweden and Finland. Tornio-Haparanda is often called Twin City. People who are visiting Tornio usually also visit Sweden. Tornio co-operates internationally with Haparanda. The biggest shopping center in northern Finland is on the border between Tornio and Haparanda. In summertime there are festivals and the biggest of them is Twin City Festival. There are many big names from Finland and also from abroad performing. Between Kemi and Tornio there is a motorway that takes only 20 minutes to drive. Kemi has the only deep-water harbour in Lapland and it is known well as a harbour city. Kemi is also known about Snow Castle which is made of ice and snow in the winter time. There are many events in Snow castle during winter. In summertime there are festivals in Kemi and the biggest one is Satama Open Air. Rovaniemi is the regional capital of Lapland and it’s located at the northern Arctic Circle. Rovaniemi is the hometown of Santa Claus and people can meet him on any day of the year at the Santa Claus Office. In Rovaniemi you can experience the brightness of the summer night and in winter the Northern Lights. Rovaniemi has eight seasons which are Christmas, Frosty Winter, Crusted Snow, Ice Break-up, Midnight Sun, Harvest, Colourful Autumn and First Snowfall. Changing seasons offer many different activities. For example in summertime you can go on boat trips and Jeep safaris and in wintertime you can go to husky or reindeer ride, drive a snowmobile or go downhill skiing.
