Mangnifying scope combined to offset 1x reflex sight is much older invention than you might think!
Luftwaffe ZFR series gunsight did exactly this - with some interesting optical twists not used even today. Both ZFR-3 and ZFR-4 were essentially the same with later having larger objective and magnification. Both had identical functionality as a magnified telescope with reflex sight on top. Magnifying scope eyepiece was angled - pilot did not have to move head at all when switching between sights. All needed to do was to roll eyeball for instant, collimated, and zeroed 1x reflex view. How handy is that! Eye relief for the system was 255 mm, roughly 10".
Scope variants were used in A-10 Warthog ground attack ancestor, heavily armored 2-engine Henschel Hs 129A ground attack plane with 75mm anti-tank gun. Also, similar gound attack Messerschmitt 410. It was used in some fighter planes like Fw 190, too - but probably in Fw 190 "F" gound attack variants only.
One famous customized use case (with reflex sight part deleted) was in Ace Adolf Galland`s Messerschmitt Bf 109, helping with identification for longest ranges. This was mainly due to 1939 crash-landing and eye-injury he hid to avoid permanent grounding.
"beh." coded manufacturer (as marked on ZFR4A tag image) was Wezlar located Ernst Leitz, manufacturing cameras, microscopes, and other high precision optics. Leitz was later globally known for brilliant cameras. In 1986, Leitz camera products were renamed to Leica with original name still hidden in new brand (Leica = LEItz CAmera).
Today, the Wezlar area still remains as heartland of premium German optics. Schmidt&Bender, Hensoldt, Carl Zeiss, and Leica, among others, are located or originated from the very same area.

Nice "Mouse Gray" S&B 6-36 - also coming with MSR2 reticle.
What do you think, will gray eventually be new FDE, CB or OD? We think it has potential to be, as gray blends surprisingly well with many backgrounds. Also Scandinavian Moose has gray legs, fitting to many tactical wildlife scenarios 🙂

"This" is a rifle, originated in Finland, I believe, around 1939 due to its name "Lahti i-39" for the purpose of punching through Tank Armour. Well at some point in the 50/60's some madlad decided to rob a bank vault with one by blowing a hole through the wall of the vault. The thing on the end of the barrel was a roughly oil drum sized Custom Suppressor he made for it.

Forgotten Weapons did interesting analyse about recently published Hamas sniper video, including weapon and ammunition production. We would like to add that details on S&B PMII scopes are wrong, not matching to genuine Scmidt&Bender:
- Scope dimensions, objective size and turrets are matching to S&B PMII 5-25x56, CCW 1cm DT/ST
- Zoom ring grapping surface is PMII 3-12x50 and 4-16x50 style, not 5-25
- Eyepiece is missing gap between rotating diopteric adjustment part and eyepiece housing
- S&B engraved white logo on both sides of eyepiece is wrong
- Lens cap details not matching to Butler Creeks that are delivered with scope: cap is thinner, opening angle is wrong
- Engraved markings on DT turret appear to be slightly off / different

According to Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), new sniper shot record is now 3800m / 2.36 miles. (actual shot video link in comments) The used rifle was "Horizon`s Lord" MCR-HL.

Rifle is heavy, single-shot or mag fed anti-material rifle using large capacity "12.7x114 HL" wildcat ammunition. Cartridge uses 14.5mm x 114mm parent case. Original caliber was developed for early WWII AT rifles, but was soon later used in heavy machine guns. It was able to produce nice and even 1000m/s (3300fps) muzzle velocity (1.4m/53" barrel) with 65g (1000gr) bullet.
In practice, even "stubby" 1m / 39" barrel as in Horizons Lord, is still capable of pushing BMG weight-class 48g (740gr) bullet to 1000m/s (3300fps) MV mark. Supersonic range is beyond 2500m (1.5 miles) with it.
114mm case is large enough for most, as it can accommodate whopping 2.25x more powder compared to 50 BMG. This positions it roughly as kinetic energy intermediate between 50BMG and 20mm Vulcan. 12.7x114 kinetic energy at muzzle is approximately 24500J or 18100 ft.lbs. Bare rifle weights 15.5kg (34lbs) as a single shot version. Recoil seems to be somewhat manageable but still clearly more than with 20mm Anzio rifle. (2nd video in comments)

Bubbles! Spuhr A-0119 test: bubble touching line is equaling very, very close to 0.5 degrees roll angle. We prefer traditional bubble for almost any use. Precise, not lagging, not sensor drifting, not needing calibrations, does not run out of battery. Also works in extreme heat / cold. Kuplii! Spuhr A-0119 vesivaaka testipenkissä: kuplan reuna leikkaa viivalinjan kokolailla tismalleen 0.5 astetta kallistuksella. Eli on just, ainakin villasukan kanssa. Perinteisessä kuplassa ei ole viivettä, se ei tarvitse paristoja tai sensorikalibrointeja. Se ei myöskään hyydy pakkasessa.

Burris Veracity PH first look - 6.5 CM cartridge profile in. Distance is in meters, tilt sensor / artificial horizon sensitivity set to 0.5 degrees. Decimal value on right is wind correction on set distance - to be aimed with reticle hold-off in practice. Finnsniper 2022 stage - 3 men patrol comp - Clear the way to shooting point - Engage targets - Strict time limit for whole stage Teams very tired from tropical heat orienteering & recon mission on previous night: many missed briefing "opponent has protective vests" description. Only headshots were count on way to hilltop (old style IPSC targets, gray square = plate). Also team on vid got some minus points from unnecessary exposure / standing on firing point. Last shot while zooming camera out was a hit. Disclaimer: target area video taken blind, was impossible to see targets with bare eye. Once upon a time, independent country was staged as attacker with false flag artillery strike. After excuse was fabricated, massive attack was released without declaration of war- It was just a military operation. Official reason was to liberate attacked nation, to free people "suffering under their nazi regime". Attacking troops were astonished to find out harsh reality right after crossing border. There was no suppressing nazi regime and they were not welcomed with flowers - as their own propaganda prepared their poor bystander soldiers. Instead, whole nation was united to fight back with everything they had, by improvising and with countless ambushes. Airplanes bombed big cities day after day, but it united nation to fight back even harder. Some of improvised defence inventions are known even today, Molotov coctail being perhaps most famous around world. Attacked country was Finland, war is now known as "winter war". It ended today, 13.3.1940 Soviet Union suffered massive casualties in just 105 days, dead or MIA estimations varying between 130000 and 170000. Total casualties approximately 350000, or even more. Whole divisions, stuck on roads, were demolished with endless smaller patrol attacks and excellent artillery coordination. Since then and after accepting heavy conditions of 1944 continuation war truce terms, Finland has kept its defence readiness in better level than almost any country in world. Tiny 5 million people nation with 900000 strong reserve, +1500 strong artillery and constantly upgraded modern equpment is exceptional. Well trained, motivated professionals and dedicated reserve personnel are upholding tradition from generation to generation. But that is not the whole story. Private firearm ownership per capita in Finland is third highest in world, also all guns in video are privately owned.
