Join us on a cultural-historical wellness hiking trip on the banks of the river Oulujoki. Tar Trek is an all-inclusive hiking trip which follows the traces of Finnish history from this day into the last Ice Age. It is a voyage through the stories of local culture and tradition. D
uring the trip we hike, in several stages (10-20 km) from the banks of the river Oulujoki to the glacial landscape of Rokua and lake Oulujärvi. The hike will take us to some of the best parts of the Tar Trail, a 100 km long hiking trail between Sankivaara (Oulu) and Rokua (Utajärvi)
During the hikes we enjoy the wellness effect of Finnish nature (wetlands, forest, water and fresh air) and learn more about the history of the region (tar production, rapid tourism, fishing, electricity and farming). Lunch is prepared in the forest using local and natural products. In the evenings we recharge our batteries with excellent local food, different forms of sauna and nature-based care at accommodations with a history.
