AUTUMN FOLIAGE IN LAPLAND ALSO CALLED "RUSKA"!

Autumn has already started in the northern part of Lapland but will soon be fully present in the Rovaniemi region as well. Our office is located in Rovaniemi but we also have experiences where you can explore national parks and northern places in Lapland!

Among the activities you can do during this time of the year we offer : canoeing adventures, E-fatbike trips, hiking trips to places such as National Parks, the Amethyst mine or shorter hikes focusing on survival skills! We also have animal related experiences where you can participate in training the dogs for the winter season, as well as sauna experiences and story-telling evenings on cultures of the north. AURORA SEASON STARTING THIS MONTH!

As the sky is getting darker slowly but surely, it is also the official return of the Northern Lights. Indeed, the aurora activity does not stop during summer but as we do not get any darkness , it is impossible for us to observe them. By the end of August we will start progressively hunting Mrs Aurora again! Our first hunts will have a short window of visibility (only a few hours still between sunset & sunrise). However, September is one of the best months thanks to the weather and the autumn equinox!

As a solo traveler during the low season it may be hard to find some valuable and affordable experiences to join because most tours in Rovaniemi require a minimum of 2 participants to operate.

HIKING IN A NATIONAL PARK!

Pyhä-Luosto national park consists of a fells chain (“tunturi”), which offers impressive and typical Lappish landscapes that you cannot find in the Rovaniemi area. In summertime, long days offer great daylight and beautiful colours when reaching the summits. When reaching to the amethyst mine, you will then learn more about local geology, the formation of the precious amethyst and the story of the mine. At the end of the visit, you will dig the soil to find your own amethyst that you can keep!
