Ice skating in a winter wonderland is possible here with us at Kotatieva ⛸️🌲❄️ Our forest ice skating trail warmly welcomes everyone, no matter if you don’t have any previous experience. We offer push supports for both children and adults, and you’re welcome to enjoy the trail even without skates, perhaps with a kicksled or simply taking a little break along the way. You can also join in a friendly game with friends or other guests, making the experience even more enjoyable. All necessary equipment is available on-site to ensure a memorable adventure in the snowy woods.

We will open no later than 7 December. Follow our posts if we could open earlier!

Ravintola Kotatievan keittiömestari Inga Karjalainen on voittanut kokkiopiskelijoiden SM-kilpailut Rovaniemellä yhdessä Saranukhtul Inthan kanssa. Hieno suoritus ja paljon onnea voittajille.

Are you coming to visit us this season?

There are plenty of direct flight connections from over 20 European cities flying to Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland during winter season 2024- 2025. For example, you can fly directly to Rovaniemi from UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Previous years we have had lot of visitors from Australia and United States, and one family even from Alaska.

Remember that our cabin reservation includes free airport transfer, so if you are coming for a sleepover, remember to tell us details of your flight.

We are having new years eve party in Kotatieva. In our party you can skate along the Kotatieva skating track with headlamps. You can also go sledding and between activities you can have a snack by the fire. Ticket includes activities and flame-grilled salmon, sausages + salad. ¨Olen Inga, vastavalmistunut kokki, jolla on vahva palo luoda unohtumattomia ruokaelämyksiä ihmisille. Nuorena tekijänä tuon keittiöön uusia ideoita ja näenkin nykypäivän ruokakulttuurin nuorison näkökulmasta.

Minulle tärkeintä ruuan laitossa on laadukkaat ruoka-aineet ja niiden kunnioittaminen. Ruoanlaitto on minulle ennen kaikkea intohimo ja haluan jakaa sen jokaisen asiakkaani kanssa. Tulevassa menussa korostuvat lappilaiset maut ja paikalliset raaka-aineet, jotka tarjoillaan asiakkaille omalla twistillä. Ja nirsommallekin nautiskelijalle löytyy varmasti vatsan täytettä.

Nuoresta iästäni huolimatta olen jo kerryttänyt kokemusta kilpailuista. Osallistuin Arctic Skills -kisoihin Norjassa, josta palasin kultamitalin kera. Tavoitteet kisaamisen suhteen eivät kuitenkaan lopu tähän - lokakuussa 2024 suuntana on nuorten SM-kisat ja tähtäimessä voitto.

Odotankin tulevaa kautta innolla ja pikkujoulukausikin on jo ihan kulma takana, joten muista varata paikkasi. Toivottavasti näen teistä mahdollisimman monen ravintola Kotatievassa ensi talvena.

¨I’m Inga, a newly graduated chef with a strong passion for creating unforgettable dining experiences. As a young professional, I bring fresh ideas to the kitchen and view modern food culture from a youth perspective.

For me, the most important aspects of cooking are high-quality ingredients and respecting them. Cooking is, above all, my passion, and I want to share that passion with every customer. In my upcoming menu, I will highlight flavors from Lapland and local ingredients, served with my own twist. Even the pickiest eater will find something to satisfy their hunger.

Despite my young age, I’ve already gained experience in competitions. I competed in the Arctic Skills competition in Norway, where I returned home with a gold medal. However, my competitive goals don’t end there – in October 2024, I’ll be heading to the Finnish Youth Championship for students, with victory as my target.

I’m eagerly looking forward to the upcoming season, and the Christmas party season is just around the corner, so be sure to reserve your spot. I hope to see many of you at Restaurant Kotatieva this winter.

We want to be part of emphasizing responsible choices and a shared commitment to protecting our environment. Ravintola Kotatieva aukeaa 15.11.2024 täysin uudella innolla. Uusi ja nuori keittiömestarimme on vastavalmistunut kokki. Nuoresta iästään huolimatta hän onkin jo ehtinyt niittää menestystä mm. voittamalla Arctic Skills -kilpailun.

Olemmekin yhdessä luoneet teille pikkujoulumenun unohtumattomia juhlia varten. Menussa korostuu monipuolisuus, paikallisuus sekä aidot jouluiset maut kuitenkaan olematta tavallinen jouluruoka. Pikkujoulumenu on tarjolla ajalla 15.11 – 14.12.2024 aina perjantaisin ja lauantaisin. Illalla on kaksi kattausta, klo 18.30 sekä 21.00. Paikkoja kattauksissa on 20 henkeä/kattaus. Ravintolassa on anniskeluoikeudet. Varaa paikkasi heti osoitteesta [email protected].

Vaikka ulkona ei kovin jouluista vielä olekaan niin joulukalenterit ovat kuitenkin jo kaupoissa. Tässä johtuen meilläkin on nyt tulevan pikkujoulukauden paketit myynnissä. Pakettiin on mahdollisuus sisällyttää aktiviteetteja kelin mukaan, sauna + palju sekä ruokailu Hirsiravintolassa. Kuljetukset sisältyvät paketteihin. Aktiviteettien osalta huomioidaan kelivaraus. Here at Kotatieva, we have started to prepare for the coming winter season. A local youth hockey team and their parents came to help us clean up the environment last weekend. We want to support local youth sports and offered them a day to spend time together and strengthen their teamwork. The team and their parents did an excellent job for us and we are really greatful. While we still enjoy the warmth of summer during the day, it won't be long before the frost arrives and we can start freezing the ice skating track. We hope to see these hard-working young athletes back on our ice soon. Good luck for upcoming season!

At least 500 meters long ice skating track in the middle of a snowy forest. And loads more! Far from noises and distractions of the town you can spend an active day with your family and friends. We offer unforgettable experiences to all age groups.

Picture an ice skating trail in the peace of Lapland’s wintry woods. In Kotatieva you can experience the magic au naturel! Doesn’t matter whether you are a complete beginner on the skates or an ice hockey icon you now have the opportunity to enjoy our breathtakingly beautiful snowy leisure park.

You can enjoy our huge sledge hill, play some games or just go for a walk in a snowy forest with snow shoes.

This season we also have our new residents Loimu and Lumi available for you to meet and feed. They also love to take a photo with you.

We provide you also all the necessary equipment, free bus transfer, and there is a cafe-restaurant open every day for food and drinks.

We are open daily 10 am – 3 pm, from December to March.

Our cabins are open for reservation for next season. Cabins has one double bed and one bunk bed, toilet and and small kitchenette. There is a view to northern sky to look for Northern Lights, which are actually only lights there are in the night, besides moon. Cabins have separate private showers. There is also a sauna and a hot tub available for rent. And as a bonus, day tickets for one day is included in the reservation. Booking is available direct from our webshop.
