Very early we had to realize that only way to do northern lights tours is REAL AURORA HUNTING!

Real Aurora hunting for us means:

-starting times depends on the solar/magnetic activity
-location depends on the clouds
-no start if no chances for successful tour

Now that winter has arrived here, slowly but surely, it means that the climate is a little bit different than it was earlier in autumn!

The early part of winter is usually way cloudier than autumn time or later part of winter.. which makes aurora hunting more challenging! not impossible tho but usually at this time we just have to do even harder work to find the clear sky!

This is why you shouldn’t get lazy and feel too comfortable and just rely on your luck if your goal is to see the northern lights during your short visit! be ready to hunt!!! (drive)

this picture is taken in November 2018 from our tour! those years were the solar minimum when we started (2017) to do these tours!

There will be northern lights as well even the average wouldn’t be so strong that often! We can say this because we have the experience of it… still the conditions of the day matter more than the year’s average… at least from the tourists perspective who visit here probably only few days at the time!

Still the same principles matter… stay longer! Find the trustworthy aurora hunter!

*Solar maximum probably 2024-2026 = more often stronger auroras! (11 year cycle)
