Imagine a quiet river flowing in it's stream. You're floating on it, surrounded by lush nature and eagerly waiting to see what's there behind the river bend. There's no hurry, just you and moving water in this moment. 💚

Meet Sasu, the newest member of our guide team! Sasu is originally from North East Finland (Kuusamo) where he grew up surrounded by forests and nature. After a few years in the Southern cities he was drawn back north by all the 8 seasons and the peace of mind they have to offer. In 2015 Sasu started studying to become a wilderness guide and he has worked as a guide in Lapland ever since. Alongside of guiding Sasu is now studying forestry and natural resources. His free time he likes to spend outdoors doing various activities. You may find him on the fells on skis or by the river with a fishing rod. In addition to nature, Sasu is also passionate about music.

Here's Anna, whom some of our guests met this spring as she was doing her internship with us. Anna is graduating from wilderness guide school this summer and will be guiding for us next season.

Anna is soon an educated wilderness guide, and she has also worked as an editor in a book publishing house. She was born and has lived most of her life in the capital region of Finland, but is now settled in Muonio. Hiking is her passion and getting into that hobby led to a big life change: moving from city to Lapland and completing the wilderness guide course. Anna is fascinated about new trails and the constant change of northern nature. For her the best thing about living in Lapland is always being surrounded by beauty.

We have a few new faces in our team and we think it's time to introduce them!

Here's Emmi. She is a winter-lover who can't get enough of snow and outdoors. Her biologist background makes her see all the small details in nature and appreciate the fragile and unique arctic ecosystems even more.

Emmi grew up in Western Finland and studied in Helsinki but her mind was always wandering on the northern fells. After an exchange year in Tromsø, Norway, she couldn't resist the call of the north anymore but packed her bags right after the studies and moved to Lapland. Nowadays her days are filled with hiking, skiing, snowboarding and all other outdoor activities both in work and spare time.

Meet Tuomas! He's a reindeer herder and a descendant of an old reindeer herding family, born and raised in one of the villages in Muonio. Reindeer are not just a job but a lifestyle for him and other herders. As a part of our Silence & Nature -tour you will get to meet Tuomas, who will take you for a sled ride with his reindeer.

The magnificent Lappish nature has a lot to offer during the snowless season as well.

Our Land of Light -tour is a relaxing holiday with different nature activities and exploration of the nightless night in June and the Northern Lights in autumn time.

Over the Fells is a perfect choice for those who wish to hike in the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, but with comforts: a sauna and a bed to sleep in every night.

The wilderness expedition takes you to unmarked paths and beyond and requires some hiking experience.

As we strive to operate as sustainably as possible, we can not ignore the effects of our guests means of travel. Traveling always causes emissions, but sustainability means true efforts to minimize them. Thus we want to encourage our guests to choose traveling by land whenever it is possible. From now on we will give a discount of 150 euros for guests traveling to and from Lapland only by land.

As sustainability is the core value of our operation, we want to do our part in protecting and preserving nature. We have committed to donate 20€ per each guest we have served for the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation, who do important work in mapping and protecting valuable nature areas.

After this winter season we donated 660€ and helped to protect 1320 squaremeters of old forest in Northern Lapland.

Let's take a peak into what our guides have been up to during the summer!

Starting with Johanna. In addition to office work and developing the company she has mainly been taking care of reindeer. During summer it's just to look after them, give some extra food and check through the 10 km fence every once in a while. She has had time for kayaking and practicing paddling in rapids - great fun!

Lapland is a great place to visit in the autumn as well. The weather gets cooler and there's no bugs. The Northern Lights tend to appear again by the end of August and by mid-September we have a beautiful foliage.

We are a fresh member of We Speak Gay -community. This means we are not just warmly welcoming all members of the LGBT+ groups on our tours, but actively working towards more diversified representation and inclusion in travel services. Participating in trainings the We Speak Gay -community is offering is also an important step on our path towards higher social sustainability.

Have you ever felt like being in nature makes you forget all the stress or concerns you might have?

Evidence shows that a strong connectedness with nature indeed supports our mental and physical wellbeing. There are a multitude of ways to connect to nature. For instance, we might experience the beauty of nature by touching the bark of trees, by feeling fresh snow falling onto our cheeks or by listening to mesmerising birdsong. Quality time in nature can generate many different positive emotions, including joy, creativity or calmness and can even facilitate concentration and reduce stress levels. We also tend to move more briskly outdoors without even noticing it because the stunning environments we are moving in encourage us to keep moving. We are here to give you exactly this quality time to find your connectedness to nature.
