Our Island Day Tour with Ryan.

With only a few days in Fiji we wanted to know more about the islands and picked a day trip with Ryan.

On the way to our first stop, the market, we were given lots of information about the history of the island and its various people and cultures.

Our next stop was Viseisei village, where the chief’s spokesman gave us a fascinating and informative tour and we gained some knowledge about the way a traditional Fijian village community lives and works.

The orchid garden of the sleeping giant, in the foothills of the mountain, gave us an opportunity to see and smell many different varieties of orchids. The highlight was the lookout, which was a lot of effort on a hot day but with views that made the sweating worth it!

After that, we enjoyed an extended mud bath in the natural hot springs. This stop was certainly the most amusing for photos and we felt so relaxed afterward we could have just slept right there.

As a final stop, we went for lunch at the best restaurant we could have imagined. The food was tasty and perfectly cooked. We even had Vakalavalava for dessert - something we wouldn’t have ordered ourselves but we couldn’t stop eating it!

We couldn’t have asked for a better, more informative, one-day introduction to the island. It’s a shame we’re only here for a few days but next time we’ll be sure to ask Ryan for one of this other tours (hopefully including making and sampling Fijian chocolate).
