Day two of the Inaugural Southern Lau voyage we visited Matuku Island, the only island in Lau not to have been conquered by the Tongans. They welcomed us with rich Fijian history, marked by a significant cultural site and thrilling surf breaks. Despite its warlike past, the locals embraced us warmly, treating us to vibrant dancing and cultural experiences.

Our inaugural Southern Lau journey began with a warm reception at Buliya village. 🩵🌴

This was the first visit of its kind to the village and we were greeted with enthusiastic singing and an effusive energy. 🎶 It was Easter Sunday and the special church service with incredible choir was followed by a village tour. ⛪
We then enjoyed a refreshing swim in the village's inviting waters. 🌊

Each morning started with our delegation going ashore early for the traditional sevu sevu/welcome ceremony with the chiefs and elders, after which time our guests were officially welcomed. 🙏🩵
