Nasiriva Women's Club

Nasiriva Women's Club From past mothers to present mothers, the handicraft skill of mat weaving is strong here on the Island of Moturiki.

Navuti is one of the ten villages located on Moturiki Island, North East from the mainland Viti Levu. Located here on this island where there is 3,000 year old bones found. Nasiriva Women’s Club was formed in 2009, with 20+ members , the club was named after its old location up in the mountains. During the 18th century after the introduction of Christianity to the area, all villagers moved closer

to the sea and the population flourished. Past down from generation to generation the skill of mat weaving is still practised here on the island today. This women’s club was created in the hopes of raising funds to buy items such as a sewing machine, paints to dye with and materials to print with, and uniforms. We are a friendly bunch, so please come and visit and hear more about our story!
