The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica DPM, addressed business leaders, Government officials, and stakeholders at the Fiji-New Zealand Business Council Networking Event held at Paradiso Restaurant in Suva on 7th November.
The event focused on exploring new business opportunities for Fiji in New Zealand, strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
The Deputy Prime Minister, in his keynote speech, emphasized the robust and long-standing relationship between Fiji and New Zealand, which spans over 53 years.
He highlighted the strategic importance of the Duavata Partnership, a bilateral agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
"New Zealand remains one of Fijiโs most important economic partners, serving as a key source of foreign direct investment, a major export destination, and a significant source of tourism. As we work towards rebuilding and diversifying our economy, we see New Zealand as an essential partner in driving growth, innovation, and job creation," said DPM Kamikamica.
The Deputy Prime Minister also discussed the significant investment opportunities in Fiji, particularly in emerging industries such as telecommunications, green energy, agriculture, and manufacturing.
He underscored the Fiji Governmentโs commitment to creating a conducive business environment through tax incentives, streamlined regulations, and policies aimed at facilitating foreign investment.
"Fiji is a hub for the Pacific region, and we are working to position ourselves as the investment destination of choice. We are prioritizing economic diversification, digitization of government services, and building a resilient digital economy, all of which create a solid foundation for partnerships with New Zealand businesses,โ added the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Fiji-New Zealand Business Council event served as an important platform for business leaders to exchange ideas, explore new opportunities, and build relationships that will shape the future of Fiji-New Zealand economic ties.
