Barry finished off his weekend session this morning with the little Lin at an impressive 35lb 4oz. Every fish is coming out at its peak weight and we still have another 2.5 months left of growing, our guests will not be disappointed this season that's for sure. Awesome Angling Barry! 💚

🆕New Team Member & New 50!

A big welcome Barry who has recently joined our growing team of staff. Barry like us is a passionate angler and will be greeting you on a Saturday and on hand to help you settle in for your weeks stay.

Over the last few weeks Barry has been getting to know the lake the best way he can by wetting a line of two. Things have been a bit slow but this week the lake has come alive and today he was rewarded with one of the rarer gems of the lake at 52lb!

As our regulars will know this is one that rarely graces the bank so an amazing capture and a new Retreat 50 to boot.

Swim 1's front has been finished and built to last a lifetime, ready for this season. WIth a rockery with alpine plants, weigh station and a boat ramp, its one of the favourite swims here.

A project that took longer than expected due to the lockdowns but is now the finishing touch to the 4 luxury Swims. Theres plenty of space for one angler to fish, bivvy up and relax in the surroundings of this swim.

We welcome families and have tackle hire and tuition available for those that are wanting to learn how to fish and are looking for that summer holiday in nature this year.

August can be a very warm time of the year at the Retreat and you can expect temperatures of 30 + degree's so be prepared with plenty of sunlotion and hats but one thing is for sure, that watching those summer nights go down on the veranda of a Safari tent, waiting for that bite is magical. 💚

🔄 2022 Bookings 🔄

While The Retreat rests under a light blanket of snow we have a announcement to make regarding bookings for this year.

With the uncertainty still surrounding the current travel rules and ever changing regulations, we have decided to offer our customers the guarantee of either being refunded or having their week moved to a different date (where possible) if you are unable to travel due to the restrictions in place at that time.

This applies to all new and existing bookings already made.

We have also decided to open for the month of August adding an extra 'summer' month to the season. This has always been a very popular month in the past so booking are advised in advance.

The lunar landscape of carp feeding holes are all exposed at the shallow end and its less than 24 hours until we net the Retreat. It’s a big day tomorrow, removing the silvers and finally find out if Ruby is still with us. We will be documenting the whole process so ourselves and our guests get a better understanding of what’s going on below the water.

Remember The Retreat has everything you need for your week onsite including cooking facilities, the now famous Retreat Gazebo, bivvies', Safari tents and a full range of utensils and cookware to name but a few.

A 20% deposit is required upon booking with the remainder to be paid 8 weeks before your arrival.

💚💚💚 New 50! 💚💚💚

Our Dutch friends have returned for another week from what was a shortened session last year due to covid restrictions and them having to make a mad dash back to Holland!

The lake has been very quiet for the first few days of their session with high pressure and the fish just not showing themselves, but yesterday that all changed when a big low pressure front moved in and the conditions looked perfect.

The first bit of action came in the shape of a nice mid 30lb and was then shortly followed by an epic capture of the mighty Cluster at 51lb 08oz 💚

A new 50 for The Retreat and what a fish with its stunning scaling and certainly one of our favourites!

Sam's PB didn't last long, Reggie was back on the bank last night at 69lb 5oz!! What a PB for Sam!!

Some incredible fishing going on for Sam and some great fish coming out this week! A Madbaits wafter alongside our carpet feed and pellet is working really well for Sam .. Congratulations Buddy!!!

This weeks guests have settled in nicely. Sam has managed to land Ronnie tonight and smashed his PB in style. A superb start and great to see Ronnie at 60lb 5oz!! Congratulations Sam, keep at it!

Harry's having a great session, breaking his PB a few times in the week before landing this cracking new PB at 50lb 8oz. A new fifty for the Retreat, so Harry gets to name her... Arry joins our list of 50lb+ fish. A great name and a superb fish to break the 50 milestone. Well done Harry, superb angling!! 💚

This weeks guests are from our fundraiser from over 2 years ago for Just Josh. The funds raised contributed towards Josh and his family getting to America for some private therapy.

Josh is 5 now and his just giving page still continues. All the additional money goes to valuable ongoing physiotherapy and other therapies.

So the lads are having a great week and they're getting into some lovely fish. Lot's of PB's being broken all around and Cameron Dines is pictured here with his new PB of 48lb.

Using a PVA bagged filled with crushed Lobster Red and pellet, he caught this stunning carp with starburst scales, a nice array of scales behind the gills and huge plated scales around the pelvic fins.

Congratulations Cameron on a great PB!!💚

💚New Lake Record💚
💚Reggie at 70lb💚

Ray absolutely smashed the lake record and his PB with this early wake up call this morning capturing Reggie at an epic weight of 70lb. Plenty of Lobster Red, pellet and carpet feed has been going in over the last month and its showing in the fish weights.

Congratulations Ray, some persistent angling through a wet weekend has really paid off. Enjoy the bubbly!! 💚

A nice long male for Steve this week. The guys had a tough week, as the weather changed towards the end of the week, a change in the fishing was expected but bites were still had to come by, especially from the bigger fish. Steve, Nick, Michael and Jonny were great guests and we look forward to their return next spring on their annual trip to the Retreat.

Michael with one of the stockies this week, this carp is always a favourite when you see it in the net. Like most of our guests, this fish crossed the English channel and 500 miles to be at the Retreat.

With mainly the stockies, a forty and long males on the list of captures this week. Some awesome photos have been captured of the star show that the Retreat puts on, on a clear night.

This evening, Glynn caught this lovely carp at 41lb 12oz. A lovely shot of the Retreat, that comes alive at night.

The action has been continuing throughout the night and today with plenty more fish on the bank. The favourite picture of the day is from a double take for Rob and Glynn, that resulted in a nice thirty and twenty for them. 💚💚

The action is still ongoing with over 30 fish between the guys now. One of the Retreat’s oldest residents Crosby, made an appearance today. Our giant carp carving overlooking this swim was based on this lovely Linear carp weighing in 30lb 12oz. Always bouncing around the 30 mark, Crosby is never going to be a big fish but who needs to be big when you’re this beautiful!

The bites haven’t stopped over the last 24 hours as Manic Monday carried over to today. A couple of forties have been out including this 43lb 2oz mirror, backed up by plenty of twenties and thirties for the all the guys. Keep at it guys, it's lovely to see a great week unfolding.
