Retreat Fishery is an exclusive 5 acre angling lake set in the middle of rural Limousin our nearest major town is St Leonard de Noblet. We opened for the first time in June 2016. Our price is per week, that's a whole lake to you and your friends or family. We have around 140 Carp up to 60lb+, these are mirrors, commons and grass. We also have 2 rare Mandarin Catfish in the Retreat and plenty of Pi

ke, Perch and roach. Th Gazebo has a gas powered hob, BBQ and Fridge. We also have two Safari tents that accommodate up to 4 guests between them. There are toilets and recycling centre are located at the back of the Gazebo area at the lake. The Cottage has shower, toilet, washing facilities with charging points and a fridge and freezer to store your bait and food. The whole balance of your holiday will be required 6 weeks before your holiday begins. Your holiday starts at 1pm on the Saturday and we request that you leave by 10am on the departure date. We also require one persons passport from the party, that will be held as security for the week and will be returned on the departure date.

🎣 PBs & Social Magic at The Retreat ✨

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Ad, Jay, Jim, and Dave — and although the weather threw us some challenges (low temps and buckets of rain!), the lads battled on and made serious magic happen 💪🌧️🔥

Ad kicked things off in Egret with two early takes... unfortunately both slipped the net 😬 But resilience paid off — and how! He went on to land a solid 27.8lb, a chunky 38lb mirror, and then... boom 💥 an incredible 56lb mirror to close the week, setting a brand new Personal Best 👏👏

Dave was on a mission in Wagtail — determined to land his first-ever grass carp and chase down a 50. The Retreat delivered one of the two, with a cracking 42lb grass carp! 🐬 He also had a 30lb common, a 31lb mirror, and even snuck in a tench for good measure. Great effort, Dave! 🫡

Jay set up over on Kingfisher Left — and what a session he had. He kicked things off strong with a 44lb mirror and 32lb mirror, and then… Retreat magic struck ✨ Ronnie made an appearance — tipping the scales at 63.8lb, smashing Jay’s PB and making jaws drop all round! 😍 He topped off the week with a beastly 61lb catfish. Epic.

Jim, on Kingfisher Right, stayed quiet but focused — and it paid off. He landed a tidy 31lb, 18lb, and 28.8lb mirror, but the highlight was a massive 51lb grass carp, his new PB 💥 Sadly, the fish made a great escape during photo prep — no pics this time, but we know what you saw, Jim! 😂

💪🏻 Big Fish Thursday did not disappoint. Huge congrats to all of you — your persistence, patience, and positivity made it a week to remember.

Personal Bests and Precious Memories – This Is What It’s All About 💚🎣✨

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming David and Scott, along with their families, to The Retreat and what a special experience it turned out to be.

It wasn’t just about the fish—it was about family, friends, connection, and creating moments that will last a lifetime.

David got off to a flying start, landing Cluster at 64lb 💥—a new personal best straight out the gate.

Scott, who joined us for a shorter session from Monday to Thursday, had three lovely fish, with his biggest being a stunning 54lb mirror named JJ—another PB smashed 🙌

And then came Joey(JT)—rising star of the week— landing multiple fish and breaking his PB with every single one, topping out at a whopping 54lb 💪🔥. Great angling Buddy!

But the moment that took everyone’s breath away?
David hooking into the legendary Reggie.A colossal 74.5lb, obliterating his previous PB and sealing a week of dreams 🐋👑. It was a great moment to be part of.

Together they fished hard—switching from bottom baits to zigs during the day, and presenting their rigs with skill and precision.

Well done to you all—top angling, brilliant focus, and the kind of wholesome family memories The Retreat was made for.

Personal bests were broken, and moments were made, Good Times!!

A Phenomenal Session – The Week That Changed Everything 💚🎣🔥👑

We had the pleasure of welcoming Joe, Rick, Jamie, and Nugget to The Retreat this week—and what happened next was nothing short of legendary.

Joe opened the action in Egret, landing the stunning Rough Diamond Common and a clean 40lb mirror.

Rick had a quieter time but still hooked into the big cat (twice! 🤦‍♂️🐱).

Nugget chipped in with a couple of cracking fish to 53lb—solid session! 💪

But the spotlight?

It’s all on Jamie. Armed with a new tactic and some serious focus, he absolutely lit up the lake:
⚡ 54 takes⚡ 47 fish landed⚡ Total weight: 1518lb

And the roll call of chunks for Jamie:

* 3 x 50s to 54lb (🎯 new PB)
* 3 x 60s to 65lb 4oz (🎯 new PB – including Cluster)
* And then... Reggie appeared.🎣 75lb 8oz. A third PB. The Queen of the lake. 👑🐋

Non-stop action. Giant carp. Perfect ex*****on. We’ve had some incredible sessions here—but this one?

It changed the game. 💥

Respect where it’s due—Jamie, you’ve just written your chapter in Retreat history.

As summer kicks in at The Retreat, we want to give a huge shoutout to Brett, our incredible ranger who’s headed home for a well-earned break until September.

For the past three months, Brett has gone above and beyond—helping guests, caring for the lake, and making sure every session runs smoothly. From early morning fish checks to late-night laughs, Brett’s energy, dedication, and knowledge have been a huge part of what makes The Retreat special.

Thank you, Brett—for everything you’ve done. We’ll see you again soon! 👏

Persistence Pays Off – A Week of Firsts and PBs

We had the pleasure of welcoming Tyler, Zac, Cal, and Marcass to The Retreat this week. Although the fishing started off a little tricky, each angler soon found their stride and got amongst the fish.

Zac led the charge with 8 fish landed (and a few more lost), finishing the week with a new personal best—a stunning 55lb mirror.

Marcass landed three impressive grass carp, all personal bests, with the biggest just over 47lb.

Cal also had a great session, catching a couple of fish and landing a new PB of 33lb.

Tyler saved it for the final few days, netting a couple of fish, including a new PB of 29lb 8oz.

A brilliant week all round, filled with laughs, memories, and milestones. We hope to welcome you all back to The Retreat again soon

BIG FISH, BIG MOMENTS – THE RETREAT FIRES INTO MAY! 💚

What a red-letter week we’ve just had at The Retreat—one for the Retreats history books! Jordan (Barb), Jordan (Brooks), and Keayrn arrived with high hopes, and left having absolutely smashed it.

From the very first bend in the rod, it was clear something special was happening. Every angler not only caught—but obliterated—their PBs in style:

🎣 Jordan (Barb) broke his PB three times in one week—starting with a stunning unnamed 59lb 14oz mirror, followed by the iconic Rough Diamond Common, and finally Cluster at a jaw-dropping 64lb.

🎣 Jordan (Brooks) knew the fish were on the feed and made it count—banking Ronnie at just over 63lb to claim his new PB and adding another 60 to the groups tally.

🎣 Keayrn showed grit and determination all week. After a slow start and two smaller fish, he regrouped and dug deep. A new spot and a bit of help led to a unnamed 55lb 14oz PB—and then, on the final night, he landed the fish of a lifetime: Reggie at 75lb, smashing his PB once again and topping off an unbelievable week.

What a week we've had at The Retreat! ☀️

Michael, Jordan, Scott and Lewis joined us and made the most of a beautifully warm week. The fish were up enjoying the sun during the day—cruising on the surface—but once the light faded, they got their heads down and started feeding.

All four lads got amongst it, with some stunning fish on the bank. Every swim produced bites, and there was a real buzz throughout the week.

A total of 19 carp landed, with three anglers banking a 50lb+—including the biggest of the session at just over 54lb!
�Proper bit of angling from the lads. The fish are clearly starting to move about more now and it’s showing in the results.

Great to meet you all—it was a pleasure having you here. Hope to see you back soon for another crack at those PBs!

The Week Reggie Surfaced 💚

This week we welcomed Ben, Paul, James, and Matt to The Retreat. With temperatures continuing to swing and rain pushing through, the fish remained unsettled, holding high in the water and making the fishing tricky.

But perseverance paid off in a big way.

The highlight of the week — and one we’ve all been waiting for — was Reggie finally making an appearance. Ben was the lucky angler to land the Retreat’s most iconic resident, smashing his personal best with an incredible 75lb 5oz mirror. A truly special moment, and one that lit up the whole lake.

Ben also added a few of the smaller, stunning scaly mirrors during the session.

Paul got amongst the action too, banking a couple of beautiful fish up to 33lb 6oz.�L

James had a quieter start to the week, but finished strong, landing The Rough Diamond Common at 51lb 2oz, followed by a cracking 49lb 10oz mirror, a new Retreat forty at 42lb 2oz, and a mega-looking mirror at 35lb 3oz.

Matt fished his socks off all week, showing real grit and determination, but sadly luck wasn’t on his side this time, losing two takes. That’s fishing — and no doubt he’ll be back for revenge next time!

A great bunch of lads who showed nothing but respect to the lake, the fish, and The Retreat. It was a pleasure to witness some real gems this week — and we can’t wait to welcome you back for Round 2.

We’re Hiring a Summer Ranger at The Retreat!

We’re on the lookout for someone special to join us this June, July and August at The Retreat.

If you love the outdoors, know your way around a lake, and don’t mind firing up a BBQ now and then—we want to hear from you!

The Role:

You’ll be our on-site Ranger during our family-friendly summer season. You’ll help guests settle in, offer advice on finding the fish, keep the lake and site looking its best, and make sure everyone has an unforgettable experience.

And yes—you’ll be sharing this magical place with red deer, incredible birdlife, and some of the best carp in France.

What We Need:

You must be legally allowed to work in France

Fishing knowledge is essential

Confident cook – BBQs and simple meals for guests
Friendly, hands-on, and happy to live onsite for the summer

Someone who cares deeply about guest experience, fish and animal welfare, and nature.

You’ll follow our "Ranger Bible"—a guide we’ve built to help you deliver the best standards, from guest care to conservation.

An Unforgettable Week at The Retreat… One for the Books! What A Session 💚

We had returning legends Charlie and Jacob back for round two—and they absolutely delivered.

From the moment the rods hit the water, the lads were dialled in. Charlie wasted no time landing a new PB at 54lb 14oz, and kept the bites coming thick and fast all week. Meanwhile, Jacob joined the action with some cracking carp up to 40lb by midweek.

Midway through the session, Charlie’s family flew out to join them for a couple of days—and it was a special few days watching them share the experience together by the lake. The perfect reminder of what The Retreat is all about: connection, nature, and unforgettable memories.

But the real magic happened on the final night...

Jacob hooked into one of the lake’s heavyweights—Cluster—and smashed his PB with the epic 64lb 2oz mirror!

Not to be outdone, Charlie followed up in the early hours with another beast, tipping the scales at 52lb+.

Between them, 36 carp were landed, a few near misses, two new PBs, and a week that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

Respect to both anglers for the way you handled the fish and the vibe you brought to the lake. The Retreat thrives on sessions like these.

We’ll see you again soon for that unfinished business…

Weekly Round-Up at The Retreat

This week we welcomed Chris, Ryan, and Bailey for a well-earned break by the lake.

The weather kept us on our toes—scorching sunshine by day, cooler nights by evening, and fish clearly enjoying the top layers, soaking up the warmth in groups. That made for a slow start to the fishing… but as the week went on, Ryan and Bailey started to unlock the code.

Bailey landed the biggest of the week—a stunning 47lb 12oz mirror, followed by an impressive 41lb grass carp.
Ryan managed to bank six fish, with his best being a grass carp tipping the scales at 39lb+.

Chris put in the effort all week, fishing hard and staying positive, but luck just wasn’t on his side this time around.

Top group of lads—plenty of laughs, great company, and a solid effort on the rods. We hope to welcome you back in the future for another shot at the Retreat!
